How many t-bird tags can you buy/year there?

One a day until sold out or until your sick of giving money to the DNR. Spring is zones and time periods. 7 zones and I believe 6 time periods a week long. About four or five of the zones will be gone in the drawing and the early two or three time slots will be gone for all zones. If you put in the time and can find places to hunt you could probable hunt for the entire season jumping to different zones during the time slots. Probable be able to hunt at least one zone during two maybe three time slots.

In fall same zones no time periods. Can hunt from mid sept to end of the year. Still have drawing usually two or three zones will have permits available after the drawing and often they don't sell out. Not much excitement for fall turkey. Most buy a tag in case they see one when bow hunting deer.

I prefer fall hunting. Find food find roost get between the two pick your bird. We can also shoot hens in fall. I try and get a tom but the hens are just as tasty. Nice to get a bird late Dec loaded up with fat.

Spring is too weather dependent and just too many people. You need to draw the first or second time period and have good weather to have decent chance at a bird. Lots of permits equal lots of hunters and the birds get quite very very quick. Also in my experience spring turkey hunters are some of the biggest dicks to take the woods. Absolute no common courtesy for other hunters. They will do anything to get their bird. When I had private to hunt I spent more time waiting for the sheriff and chasing trespassers than I did turkey hunting.
