Have you tried the 6mm Creed?

Thanks for the tip on 223AI mags. Have not seen the Accurate Mag 5-rounders, but I will try one. Do you modify the mag for longer OAL? The website says max OAL is 2.325".

257,

You do have to modify the front of the mag, that's where the block is. I just pushed a few empties into the mag and filed mine out with a small round file. it's quick and easy to do

One of Stick's photos shows a modded one with a Dremel tool in the frame

Just shot a doe this morning with my Rem 700 in 6x45
I hit her at 65 yds very slightly quartering me but mostly broadside.
After the shot she spun and ran about 20 yds before falling down, as I walked up to her I was totally amazed at all the blood that was splashed on the leaves about 2-3' on each side of her trail.
I hit her with a 80 grain Barnes ttsx on the top of the near shoulder and it exited just behind the far shoulder.
Post mortem autopsy was totally amazing, it took out both lungs and destroyed the top of the heart.
I did have quite a bit of bloodshot though, am wondering if that's the norm with the ttsxs as I didn't notice that much destruction with the regular tsxs?
Same bullet my son shot his buck with this year but he shot his with a .243 at the same distance and mine looked way worse.
Very odd.
My first deer with the 6x45 and am impressed.

If only for perspective, because it never ain't not intellesting. With a miserly sub 25grs of powder and a like zero with the 105 Hornie HPBT,the 270 will kick the schit outta FGMM 175SMK's in both drop and drift...for them enthralled with M118LR-ish baselines. It REALLY stomps the fhuqk outta M852/FGMM 168SMK's. Hint.

The Booger will slip atmospherics a touch better, but Hornie's rugged/reliability and logistics is veddy veddy tough to whoop. The 105 JLK is slicker yet,but production volume is spotty at best. Pass the Hornie BTHP by the bushel, for Utility. Hint.

As mag constraints/mods go...it's no different than 223/223AI box tweaks. Simply smooch your most slickery projectile, toss yourself room to chase lands and move the shim to that locale. On 223,223AI and 270 I like to shim the aft. On 6BR,the fore portion of the box. Hint.

Montucky rearward 223AI aluminum 'box shim. Lotsa ways to do it,but start at the fhuqking start. Hint.

Montucky 6BR box for conversation, with both fasteners and epoxy workin' in conjunction. I'm a purty big fan of schit stayin' put. Hint.(grin)

No thang to arrange whatever you wish ala DBM and AM steel 5-rounders. Poke a couple empties in the well and punch, carve or whittle COAL as requisite...less disassembly. 10 second "job". Hint.

Montucky 270(shot the OEM 223 spout out) and have prolly only broken (3) mag springs in it,as nobody makes a good S/S one that'll weather. I go through more than a few in 700's too,so it ain't a Manufacturer quirk and in fact I prefer the 700 spring/milled follower(s) in Montucky bellies. OEM spacer slid to stern,in order to grant requisite COAL. Hint.

Itty-Bitty with the Illuminatti, will 100% reliably blow fhuqking minds at dastardly distant zipcodes. Only have a coupla more thousand 105 'Max to whistle through and then it'll simply be the 105 Hornie BTHP in everything, just because they ROCK.

A 20" MR contour wearin' a short shank, twisted 8" and punched 270 in a McMillan MR handle, would cover a fhuqking schit ton of opportunity, less batting a fhuqking eye.

6X MQ goes without sayin'...just sayin'.

Hint.

Stick- Ever try the 95 TMK? Seems like it would get a little more velocity than the 105 Hornie and have about the same BC. Do you prefer the Hornie mostly because they're significantly cheaper for the volume you shoot? Performance on game? Is the BC on the Hornie actually noticeably higher? Care to share what BC value you find accurate with the Hornie 105? Thanks.

I think the quick answer is Hornady bullets are competitively priced, shoot accurate, flat while defying wind. And kill well. On very close shots on bone they can blow, but downrange, they calm down wink

Tom, whose 243 did he use? Curious if twist was the answer to the damage differential

My sons rifle is a Remington factory youth .243 win. (9 1/8" twist)
My barrel is a custom benchmark barrel (8" twist)
I guess the twist rate could have had that much effect?
