We are just getting started, tested 300 gr flat base so far, with
200gr ball,will test for speed in increasing weights , up to 400 gr;
Got the 300 gr way over 3800 with longer freebore than what guys
are doing with CEBs, Allows more powder. less pressure problems,
Here is pic of extra old barrel we use checking a dozen freebore fits,
using throater to ream freebore in stages,

Those 600 cases behind being necked to 375HE, just
need deburring and 2 passes and they are done.Ed

Here is the neck swage die setup, group using couple like this now.

A threaded die we put sleeve in to fit case, its top is threaded 7/8 x 14.

Bullet seating stems with these dies is same thread and we had a bunch.

They have 30 degree taper in them with hole, we redrill/reamed hole sizes

.020" increments, for last 5 stages, First sets are just 7/8 x 14 die parts with

30 degree chamfer we put on 6 of them. Matches case shoulder taper.

We have 6 more of big threaded dies if some want to get one to sleeve and

make neck swage, CH4 got those top stems to rework.

Most wildcatters got die parts to rework,Ed

About the case print revision, and reamer revision..

About the hydraulic forming die setup we made, for 375 HE,

Saves a lot of time and powder, and gets them to chamber size.

The cases we and others necked to 375 had kind of what is called

small love handles or donut, at the shoulder. If we tried holding it

all in at the shoulder, case too thick there when looked at

by sectioning case . Even when we sectioned them to check

after firing, But doing them in the hydraulic die, which is adjustable,

with debth changes in the die, we was able to get shoulder looking right, by stretching

out the donut, and shoulder forward, gained .020" length to shoulder, so

made our test gun chamber longer to match, leaving belt step in same place,

from base to shoulder to match, after firing, were better at the shoulder when sectioned,

IE looked better on the inside of case sides to shoulder corner,

and that is how we got the revision for reamer figured out best.

Then got all reamer prints at Manson, PTG, JGS, to match.

Case forming easier, proportions better, little more volume.

Our hydro die, we made adjustable base, made things lot easier.

In essence an adjustable chamber.. Ed

Got guys getting excited including family,on 416, so making up 416 cases for

it already and doing final 416 HE, reamer print, have an action ready ,

already have a 416 test barrel here to check it in, when they put it in the

action in few days, and will be load and speed testing when cold spell breaks.

Please check this out, a new real long range shoot planned for

this summer in South Texas. Ed

A picture of our 375 HE hydro die.

We use it on lathe bed, we give rod a dozen hits.

Base is adjustable, which great aid in getting best case results. Ed..

Here is pic of 416 HSM second from left.
Can be 3.60" to 4.00" long, ac long one pictured.
Holds 280 gr ball powder under bullet. The
3.6" case can hold about 250gr under bullet.. In picture,
1st case is 416 HE, 2nd 416 HSM, 3rd 375 He, 4th 378 WEA.

416 HSM will get 400gr to 4000 without needing BMG action,
470 gr 3700, it may be the ultimate target, singleshot 416..
Case will work in fat bolt actions, with heavy enough barrel
to have good, milder, barrel harmonics and be under 50 lbs. Ed

Manson has 416 HE and 408 HE prints, as well as 375 HE
He can also make you a resize die reamer from that info.
We got 700 cases in 416 and one more pass if 408s wanted, ,
Going to do more cases for these 2 sizes, Ed
PM or email. ph 989-644-5228.. Here are specs for 416 HE.

Length 3.32", belt diameter ,655", base dia .635" ,
length base to to shoulder 2.860" , 30 deg shoulder.Ed

Our 416 HSM will have about 25gr more capacity than regular

50bmg, and as for actions if you add up the fat bolt non-bmg

actions, with .750"- .800" bolts, there are about a dozen, some priced

pretty reasonable.

For 416 HSM we can use a EU made primer I have some of, that

is tamed down a little for smoother ignition, and its cup is harder

than CCI 35s , so we can go quite high pressures. Rigging up

hydraulics on my huge press for easier case shaping.

When few cases fireformed we'll have exact specs for reamer guys.Ed

Tonopah, NV 2-Mile Match Aug 24 - 26, 2017

The Tonopah 2-mile match is official and going forward.
Dates are August 24 to 26 (site zeros on the 23rd)
Got info from LRO site,

The Course of Fire is done and appears below. Couple of main points:
ranges 1,300, 1,600, 1,900, 2,200, 2,500, 2,800, 3,100, and 3,525.
The site is virtually flat, so slope is not an issue.....50 lb. maximum for rifles

NO weight limit for gear, but you and your team need to be able to move
it up onto the line in 2 - 3 minutes. No real limit to how the rifle is supported
(front rest is ok, so are bipods and/or, tripods) so are portable shooting tables.
You are allowed to obtain a site zero the day before the match starts,
all targets are all 36" x 36"

improve wildcatting process next few weeks
some specs may make small changes, now from
base to shoulder is 3.45", case 3.97" long. Ed..

Both rim and base is smaller than bmg,

and rim is .010" smaller than base, just that

way to assist in shaping and wildcatting case.

Rim .730" and base .740" tentatively..Ed

Here is picture of our 416 HSM case sectioned next to original

BMG case they are formed from, on the right , to show that we still have

enough thickness in the sides to handle high pressure,

in a case with 310 gr capacity..We are getting the wildcatting

and forming work set up so we can do couple hundred a month.

We still have thousands of 585s, 375HEs, 416 HEs, 408 HEs,,Ed

Here is comparison of our 416 target cases, 1st is 416 HE, which we have a whole bunch of.
Second is a model of what I'd have Bruce make on his medium machine, if I could, the
416 HE Long. Third is our 416 HSM which we are working on making by wildcatting
bmg cases, If I could for target use I'd also make 375 HE longer.. Ed..

Bryan Litz just recently shot 3 shot group at 2 miles using Paul
Phillips heavy barreled, target rifle built by Lethal Precision in
375 Lethal Mag(585HE necked down, very similiar to 375HE )...
It grouped 17.5 inches tall by 22 inches wide.

I understand that there was 2-3 times as many guys wanting
to try the 2 mile shoot at Whittington than there was openings for.
So check out Tonopah, NV 2-Mile Match Aug 24 - 26, 2017
Dates are August 24 to 26 (site zeros on the 23rd).. Ed

Applied Ballistics shooter Mitch Fitzpatrick just hit 3 of 5 at 3520 yards,

this weekend at Valdina Ranch , west of San Antonio.

A great accomplishment at the 2017 World's Longest Shot Challenge. Ed
