Personally, I like 130gr Partitions or Grand Slams in my .270...bet that 1:10 Brux would work REAL NICE with either one...

My tickets and check are in the mail today.

Thanks to all who have spear-headed this effort - a class act!

Good deal Scott, I'll get this printed and sent off shortly. Nate is going to do a super job putting that rifle together.

One does not have to be firing VLDs to realize the advantage of faster twist. For example, a .277 140 Accubond, fired from a 10 twist barrel at 3000 fps in 0 degree temp from 2000 ASL, shows a BC drop from the factory estimated .496 down to .472 due to loss of stability. 9 twist shows no drop in BC in those conditions. This was calculated using the Berger twist rate stability calculator. Those are conditions a fellow could sure run into during a late season hunt.

Now that’s not to say most hunters will every see the difference in the field, but the difference is there. A 10 twist 270 is rarely a mistake for a hunter, but more twist isn’t going to hurt. Bob recognized the advantage of fast twist as well.

With all that being said, the 10 twist certainly wouldn’t stop me from hunting with this rifle, as it looks like a great overall package!

Going there may curse that rifle before it ever went into the wood. smile

YEP. I don't believe in 'curses' as such but...

Bob wasn't a vld fan - for hunting.

Jerry

Bob did mention many times useing 9 twist barrels for his 270s.

And I'm fairly confident this one would have been 9 if they could have obtained one with not having to wait 3 months.

Bob still wasn't a fan of VLD bullets for big game

Gentlemen, let's put the twist thing to bed and this will be the last we need to hear about or debate it here. smile

Per a friend of 30+ years - one that knew Bob better than anyone here, Bob's longtime favorite rifle was a pre64 M70 270 1:10 22".

Over.

You guys did a fantastic job bringing this together, I wouldn't worry about any nit pickers...some guys would cry if you hung 'em with a new rope.
