I already have one of these from last time they were on sale. It works well on my 223. I was wondering what is parallax setting and do you think it would work on a muzzle loader if so I will buy another one.

Not sure if this is right but I think I remember the specs saying parallax was set at 91.44 meters ( about 100 yards)

Standard scopes are 100 yards and Muzzle Loaders are set for 50 yards. We have the Vortex CF2-31047 1x24mm Muzzle Loader on sale for only $59.99

Doug, I will be glad to. The EAW rings on the Krico .223 have developed some looseness so I need to address this first. Having a bit of trouble locating replacement Krico mounts, but when these are repaired or replaced, I will test the scope and post.

I have same scope on my muzzleloader; works fine. Have used for several years.

Doug, I got the Minox I ordered and mounted on a rifle ( .223) this morning and it was off to the range.
I gotta say I was VERY impressed with this scope, especially at this ( or even its regular..) price point.
Clarity, eye relief-even on high power-focus, adjustments, everything was all good!

Ingwe, I gotta agree. I snagged one to put on the kid's Ruger American Compact stainless in 7mm-08. Weighed in at 13.6 oz. It is surprisingly clear for the price, clicks are OK (kind of Redfield Revolution-ish), eye relief and eye box are good. Mounted it up in some WEaver Grand Slam steel rings and the whole rig comes in at exactly 7 lbs. I'll try to get it sighted in next weekend if work lets up a bit.

Doug: Guys...Ive GOT to bump this back up to the top. I just mounted this scope on a Tikka Superlight in .223 and I am SO FREAKING IMPRESSED by it that I had to give Doug another shout out on this deal!
Cant believe it is as good as it is for the price point ( even the original price point) I'll try some night shooting with it, which will be the acid test , to see if it'll work on pigs with the green kill light..but Im betting it will pass with flying colors..

And BTW the hash marks , at least for my load, are spot on out to 400yards.....

Yea, I bought 5 of them, only had issues with one of the early ones with a loose ocular. Minox took care of it with no issues, still held zero,before I sent it in.

We will see how they hold up on my sons .308 AR 10.

I ordered two, one each for a 223 and a 22-250.

Do these exhibit any tunneling at low power?

Designed in Germany, assembled in China. Enough of it is done in China that it is a made in China product

These are important considerations when mounting on long actions (e.g. Mauser LR). The Minox website does not give that information.

Oh, I'm sure something will come along. I bought a Vortex Viper HS 2.5-10 last year on sale, and only last week brought home a rifle for it.

Finger adjust...I didn't look for the wind thingy..sorry... Doesn't show it in Dougs ad and I don't remember seeing it, so Im guessing no wind thingy.

Doug or anyone. Have there been many issues with these or returns? Reviews are mixed but I think most of the issues were with the early runs. Also a lot of people are using these on lower recoiling rifles, is this a concern?

The optics are great for the price and I am tempted to use it on a primary rifle. Other than where they are assembled they look like a great value.

We have gotten back a few a while ago with mechanical issues, however, we have not seen many of these and not from recent shipments

From what I can see is this scope has the Christmas-tree type of BDC reticle and at the end of all the intersecting lines should be 10 mph wind aim points and not just on the main crosshair line?

Nope..the 'dotz' are all the same width and the wind dotz are on the main cross hair only..not an Xmas tree type...

I have recently bought three scopes, and had no guns to put under them..I just thought I was a scope whore.

I like the sound of prophet better....

Couple of observations on the Minox ZV-3 3-9X40 scope.

I have not had a chance to shoot the rifle the scope is mounted on yet. But have noted a couple of items of concern.

First, the scope is very sensitive to flare caused by light coming from the side, most especially at over 4X. At 3X it is not very noticeable, but at 9X under the same lighting conditions the scope is almost unusable. I will test this more when I can get it outdoors more. (I'm uncomfortable waving a rifle around in my back yard with neighbors nearby.)

Second, the Minox instructions say to use no more than 13 to 15 inch-pounds of torque on the rings. I used a FAT torque wrench with that setting for the Talley LW rings. Even at that low setting the rings left slight depressions in the tube. The scope does not bind on the power change mechanism but the rings indented the tube. The previous scope on the rifle (a Leupold 6X36) had the rings torqued to 20 inch pounds and there are no marks on that scope.

The view through the scope looks great and I still like the appearance of the reticle. It will be interesting to see how the scope will hold up to the recoil of 175 g. bullets going over 2900 fps in a 8 lb. 9 oz. rifle.

Shot the rifle with the Minox ZV-3 3-9X40 scope today.

The view through the scope is excellent to my eyes. The reticle is bold and the view through the scope is very crisp. I like it a lot.

With the rifle in the sunlight I tried getting it to show the veiling flare I mentioned earlier. I could not find a problem in daylight at all. (I guess the fluorescent lights in my basement room are not a good test of veiling flare. --I don't expect to be hunting under florescent lights! )

The scope seems to handle the recoil of the 7MM Remington Magnum and there were no close encounters with the eye-piece.

Above about 6X the eye-box seems much more constrained and going to 9X from 6X did not help me see bullet holes any better at 100 yards. I will use the scope at 6X or less and be more than satisfied.

I have a second one but have not mounted it yet so don't know if it acts the same above 6X as the first.

So, would it be safe to say you like the $99.99 Minox ZV-3 a little better than the $149.99 Weaver Grand Slam 3-10X? Seriously considering ordering one of these from Doug.

Absolutely! In fact I set the Grand Slam back ( first time I ever returned a scope..) and bought another Minox..

Also bought a SIG Whiskey 3 in 3x9 and I think I prefer the Minox over that as well..not by much..but a little!

I'd be interested in knowing if you get that flare with a setting sun at your back. Most of our shooting down here is done just after sunset in low light conditions. That flare will show up on some pretty good scopes with the scope facing east.

How is the eye relief on these scopes?

Paul, don't really know about flare with the sun low on the horizon from behind me. Will have to try that when given the opportunity. The times I have noticed the most flare in the past with other scopes is when looking towards the sun trying to see into a shade darkened canyon.

I shot the rifle with the scope this week with the sun behind me but it was in late morning (9:30 to 12:00) and didn't notice any flare at all. I still like the scope and reticle and the view. I normally set it on 5X when shooting at targets. At 5X the view is most pleasing to my eye, plenty of resolution for distances well beyond my shooting skill, coupled with excellent low-light performance.

I expect to try the scope a little this fall when hunting in the late afternoon, my primary rifle will have a Leupold 6X36 with LRD reticle, but the Minox scope and reticle seems better to me as light fades - but the rifle with the Minox weighs over 2 lbs. more than the one with the Leupold - so don't plan on carrying it as much!

The booklet that came with with scope gives 96mm of eye-relief, think that translates to about 3.8". I have not had any problem with eye-relief with it set on 5X from a bench, but have not shot it from a sitting position with a tight sling which is when I tend to crawl the stock the most.

Eye relief is good, can't tell you about the 'flare' though. This has become one of my very favorite scopes...
