Looking to buy a scope, preferably with a top end magnification of at least 14x, with exposed turrets for my 22-250. Hoping to keep it in the budget of $200 - $300.

The SWFA fixed power 12x would be perfect for that use.

Fond of the 10x ss myself. Was shooting prairie dogs at 400 yards with a 223ai the other day with no trouble with a 6x ss.

I have been working with the Sightron S-Tac 3-16x42, and so far I like it just fine.

The Bushnell Elite Tactical 10x40s Model ET1040, scopes aren't bad for around $200.

A little cheaper but a solid scope, the Bushy AR Optics 4.5-18x40.

Very solid, tracks well with around 100moa of elevation adjustment.

Made in China. Mines been on a 308 a couple of years and hasn't let me down. Mounted on a flat rail it has 55moa of ele left on the turret.

Had one of these for a very short time...had some of the worst glass I have seen, wrapped in the goofiest shaped scope I have ever had.

I know you stated 14x on the top end, but Inhave to agree with the folks recommending the 10x SWFA SS. There is simply not more scope for the $ out there. Glass is ok, but the mechanics and reliability are superb, which is what's important. If you just have to have more magnification, you might get away with the 12x in good light, but having had the 16x, I would stay away from it unless the only conditions you shoot in are full bright daylight.

I just picked up a vortex viper hst 4-16x44 for $350 otd. So far I really like it. For that kind of money I have not experienced better quality but that doesn't mean it is not out there.

I have them on .221 fireball, .223 and .220 swift. You can't get more scope anywhere for $300. Less is more when speaking of magnification for a scope in this price range. I prefer the MQ reticle over the others. I also prefer the rear parallax adjustment over the side focus. Just my 2 cents.

Weaver 3-10x40 mil/mil on Midway. They put them on sale for under 300$ a few times a year. I've had 5 of them and glass is excellent.

I have a buddy with that Weaver 3-10x mil/mil for sale for $200. If anyone wants it, let me know and I'll see if he'll ship it.

Have to agree with the bizarre ocular bell design.

I didn't think the glass was all that bad though.

I waited years before trying the ss10x. I missed out. They are simply superb for the price.

Chuckle, you might want to visit Sportsman Guide and check the china made Leatherwood 4-16 scope. $100 plus shipping. Mind you, I do not own the 4-16, but do own their 6-24 and 8-32. Hundreds of rounds fired with them mounted on various center fire rifles....largest cartridge was a 308, smallest a .223.

Decent glass in mine (at their highest power & yea, I own scopes with better glass). I've no complaints about their windage/elevation turret adjustments, parallax and focus. Only problem I've encounter with them, is needing to tighten the set screws in the turret knobs that had loosened from recoil.

Been awhile since I checked Leatherwoood's website, but it did not show these Leatherwoods being sold by Sportsman. Must be an exclusive to Sportsman for I've not seen anybody else selling them.

I have become a real fan of the SWFA scopes. I own 6x and 10x. Both are great, but I am really liking the 10x for most stuff.
