Congrats! It looks like you had better weather than I did. My son & I were there 2 weeks later with my .338-06 and got a sunburn. 75 & sunny every day. Never saw a moose. Came home with a cooler full of lobsters though! grin

I was using 210 PT's ahead of 55grn of RL-15. They way over-penetrated on the lobsters! wink

That's the load I used this year to kill a nice Idaho cow elk. Worked great. Pretty sure I got the brass from you Ben.

jmdriver,

Tell me about your rebore. I always have wondered if the accurcy was good, if the cost was comparable and generally where/who can perform such a task!

Thanks,

I had JES rebore a Kimber Montana from 270 to 338-06 and cut the barrel down to 21".

It shoots 225 accubonds around 1.5"at 2690 fps.
250 grain A frames at 1.5" at 2500 fps.
210 Sciroccos at .75" at 2800 fps.

Also the one on top is a Kimber Montana that JES rebored from a .308 to a .358 win.

I have had good luck in a couple of rifles with 62 Big Game and a 210 TTSX, velocity is pretty strong as well. Work up to it!

I've also had good luck with RL15 and 4064.

Jstevens,

I do not have Big game on hand but I do have RL-15! I see it is next to the RL-15 on the burn chart! Speaking of the burn chart, does anyone have a link to the new/current powder burn rates?

58.5 grains Varget and a 185 TTSX have been outstanding accuracy wise in two 338-06's for me. Great on game too.
