Any comments on the Swarovski Z6, 1.7-10x42mm Plex reticle.
I am assuming they are durable and reliable as a non-turret twister.

I have acquired one of these, and it appears it may be a contender for my do-all, set and forget, non-illuminated scope.

Prior to this scope, 1st focal 1.5-6x42's were may favorites, if not using a straight tube. Though, I am not sure about "needing" the 10x, the fOV on this 1.7-10 is greater than my 1.5-6's.

Optically in low light, I cannot see any staggering differences between it and the Zeiss Victory 2.5-10x42, Meopta R2 1.7-10x42.
The Plex reticle seems very usable. I have some scopes that I cannot say that about, though illumination makes it a moot point.

I would like to have a #4 with the same type of dimensions as the Plex, in this scope and their 1-6x24. Or even the Plex in the 1-6, which I like better than the thinner intersecting aiming point and wider opening of their #4.

No comments on the durability of this one, so I will "assume" that is positive.

My only issue with the Swaros are their ultra thin X hairs that often negate their superb light transmission qualities as the X hairs tend to get lost.

A good principle to guide me through life: “This is all I have come to expect, standard lackluster performance. Trust nothing, believe no one and realize it will only get worse…”

Swaro made a mid-year change in the Z6 reticles a few years ago. They are now a little heavier that want some may have seen/used in the past

Sometimes it's the luck of the draw.
I had a Swaro Z6 1.7-10x42mm shake loose twice on a 338 Win. Mag. built on a commercial Mauser 98 action (about an 8.5lb rifle).
They repaired it cheerfully both times, but I sold it with the repair sheet after the second time to a friend who knew the story.
He put it on a 25-06 and has had no trouble with it after a couple of years.
I had another identical Swaro Z6 1.7-10x42mm scope on a different rifle that wasn't seeing much action, so swapped it over to the 338 out of curiosity and it has been fine for quite awhile.
If doing it over, for the money, I'd look at the Meopta in the same power range mentioned earlier.
Just my $.02......................
Good luck,
Ted smile

I definitely prefer it to the 1-6 #4's non-illuminated.
I called them regarding switching the 1-6's to Plex or modification to Plex dimensions of the opening, that was no go or their end.
They also confirmed that I had #4's not 4A's.

I like thicker reticles and closer spacing of the thicker bars also. The Zeiss 1st focal plane #4 is my favorite, of the one's that I have.
So far, in my informal testing / comparisons this Plex seems very usable.

As to the luck of the draw, I certainly agree. I have been lucky and not so lucky in rifles and revolvers.

I do have one of the Meopta 1.7-10x42mm 4C illuminated reticle. I regard it as outstanding optically and appears rugged. I was trying to go non-illuminated, and got pretty good deals on these Swarovski scopes (dealer used and demos), so hence the Swarovski.

I am in the process of swapping / matching scopes. I think the Meopta will go to a M70 300 WBY and the Swarovski on 7mm Rem rifle.
I had definitely entertained the idea of future Swarovski 1.7-10's for 325 WSM and 338 Win / 340 WBY types.

The 1-6's, I have not decided where they are going, yet.
