HI All...How much torque on the action screws ,front and rear ??
30...40 .... 50 inch lbs..???? Oh.. caliber is 30/06....
Tighten front first then rear ??? Or tighten alternatly...front..then rear..etc...

I've read anywhere from 35-55 inch pounds. When I received mine back from Beretta for service, they were set at about 55 inch pounds. It seemed excessive to me, but that was the setting.

Yep, the front one I torque are up to 50-50, the rear I don't go above 45.

I bed mine so I snug them up carefully and then torque because of the fit. When they were in the factory stocks and not bedded I would keep the front screw tight first because you are trying to get that metal lug into the metal frame in the stock first, the rear tang doesn't have that so I make sure the front lug is seated well first, then the rear. Once they are down tight I back the screws of a turn and make sure it's settled before I really tighten them up.

While you have your 85 out of the stock put the magazine in it -

Yeah, it's held by the rifle metal and free floats in the stock so it doesn't impact how the rifle shoots.

That's the last thing I check - magazine clearance, once it's in the stock.

So is it worthwhile having the bedding done on a synthetic stocked factory 85 and maybe having pillars installed into the stock??? Have a new finnlight.....

I haven't bedded any of my 85's, but always torque that front down to 40 and rear to 30in/lbs. The front lug that mates into the steel mortise in stock is a little loose on every 85 I've owned. The side to side inletting is also a little generous as seen when the screws are loose. Most will slide around a lot until that front screw is torqued. I personally don't like going over 40in/lbs on synthetic or wood unless stock is pillared.

They'll shoot under an inch 5 shots out of the box. So even though IMO they could use dab of bedding around the front receiver ring, I've just never bothered.
