Having trouble when sitting in the stand drawing the bow,65#, when both it and I are cold. Is it me, the bow, or both? Anyone else having the same problem?
Thanks

Draw it a few times throughout the sit. It does get stiff.

Draw it before you go up the tree and again when you get up there. Then, periodically when you're up there with no deer around.

My hunting bud has problems at 55#. Says it's because he bundles up in the cold.

Never been an issue for me. Always slow and smooth.

It will kill as well at 55. Much easier to pull back when cold.

I pull 55lb for that reason, missed a deer at -20C, took me 3 tries to pull the bow back on a nice Saskatchewan buck, by the time I finally pulled it I put him on my 20yd pin instead of 40yd...

Dropped to 60 lb bows 8-10 years ago. Also found smoother drawing bows. Pull the bow back a couple times every hour to be ready when i need to be.

I draw 70lbs, I do as above and draw few times while on stand. but one time I was hunting on a makeshift ground blind sitting on a bucket, a coyote came in and I made it about 1/2 draw and stopped for a second and tried to resume when he looked away... pulled muscles in my chest..... lol

I think its more your cold muscle than a cold bow.
I try to pull my bow a few times when on stand, or do some isometric exercises every half hour or so, that helps me.
And plain "being in shape" for your draw weigh is important. Not saying you are not, but lots of guys need the heavy draw to match their ego.

Several years ago when I was bow hunting a lot, I'd shoot all summer at peak weight and drop the weight back down a bit just before the season.

I'd see archers at the range as they strain to get the first few arrows drawn on 3D night.
Once they're warmed up, they were fine. Huh, I'm not the only one.

So I started shooting One arrow, on my off days.
If I can't draw smoothly and place that One arrow, Cold, the draw weight is too high for me.

It's your muscles getting stiff or too much clothes. Practice in full gear one day to see if that is what it is. If clothes isn't the problem, them draw and hold the bow for a few seconds when you get upnstand. You could also switch to a vest to limit the number of sleeves restricting your movement. I wear a good quality vest over my heavy jacket.

I have a vert that moves like it shouldn't, which pinches nerves. Doesn't matter what # I draw.

Sucks.

Back is screwed up a fair bit right now, from leaning over workbench....fixing a shotgun.

Ridiculous!
