George Orwell was a Prophet, not a novelist. Read 1984 and then look around you!

That reminds me of P.F. McManus' description of camping as "A Fine and Pleasant Misery."

An unemployed Jester, is nobody's Fool.

the only real difference between a good tracker and a bad tracker, is observation. all the same data is present for both. The rest, is understanding what you're seeing.

Camping, that's when the doors are on the outside of the motel.

Cryptic comfort. smile

Slaves get what they need. Free men get what they want.

Rehabilitation is way overrated.

Orwell wasn't wrong.

It's fun. We take camper and boat to lake Belton for a week. That's not really camping, but we have a hell of a time.

Its not free or cheap. But Carolyn and I enjoy the heck out of it. Especially back in the woods in AK. At times you hear nothing but the wild....

Peaceful. Relaxing.

And it sucks to realize we have to go back to TX

We can keep Larry Root and all his idiotic blabber and user names on here, but we can't get Ralph back..... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over....

We plan on spending the best part of the next 6-7 months camping around the west. I can hardly wait. Being retired is starting to seem better all the time.

We have always vacationed between labor day and Memorial day so it will be interesting to share with the heaving masses of summer.

My wife and I love camping off our 4 wheelers in Idaho. We take plenty of equipment and live very well. Commonly we camp where I like to hunt and I prepare the site for the coming season. I learned the locals have learned of my activity and keep an eye on my parked rig. This is as close as one can get to packing in with horses - have learned to camp away from water, this eliminates the conflict with horsemen.

I have seen moved from Idaho, I wonder if my East Fork Salmon camp still has a nice stack of wood just out of sight from the camp? And I never did get to use the tent pad I built up off of Lime creek in unit 44.

Im a slow learner, when I was younger I would have go every so often and remind myself "oh yeah that's why I never do this" . At some point it stuck and I haven't been for years.
