So I get a pm from another member here, sent money to Matt also, for a rifle, same story. No contact after money change hands.

Send a letter, Return Receipt Requested, asking him to respond. You may not get an answer but you'll know if he receives the letter.

True. But it would likely be someone from that household. Most people use mail holds now instead of having neighbors pick it up. And it would be a documented step in demonstrating the buyer attempted contact. If no response and the buyer elects a legal route it can be shown an attempt was made to contact and the letter was at least received by that household.

Matt is a good guy and likely life just got in his way briefly. Well, looks like his life got in the way for 5 weeks. And $275 of my money. No reply to e mail or pm's. Or scope . What do you consider a bad guy then? Jeff

I got a PM back from him when he received my money on 4/14 on as real as it gets website. Said he would mail it out that weekend, and then nothing. $1350 is a chunk of change to go silent about.

What do you consider a bad guy then? Jeff I cannot reach him either... I am concerned about what might have happened, too, both for the ones waiting and for Matt. I suspect it must have been something unusual and serious. Has either of you contacted the Troopers and asked if they can find anything in their logs that might indicate what happened?

Why not just call the post Office? I guarantee you they know the guy if he gets his mail there. Don't be accusatory in your inquiry. Just say he has done some transactions online that haven't been fullfield and with his reputation there has to be something wrong and his friends are worried about him. If he hasn't picked his mail up someone needs to do a well fare check.
That's how I would handle it. JMO
