Anyone know a Matt Moore in Wasilla area? On here as bearstalker. Made a deal on scope purchase on forum here. Haven't been able to contact him for a week. Hope all is ok with him.
Thanks, Jeff, aka Rustywrench.

I haven't done any buying or selling with Sitka Deer but I'd not hesitate to do so. As far as I'm concerned and according to those that know him Art is a first class guy. I don't think he suffers bitches well but then again neither do I. 😉

As for the OP's question I can't help you but I don't think you have any need for concern.

Must be painful being butthurt over your own stupidity. Perhaps someday you will actually post something of value instead of playing whiney bitch over your past posts.

From what I have gathered from his posts, that strikes me as out of character. Hope he's not in jail or in bad health.

True. But it would likely be someone from that household. Most people use mail holds now instead of having neighbors pick it up. And it would be a documented step in demonstrating the buyer attempted contact. If no response and the buyer elects a legal route it can be shown an attempt was made to contact and the letter was at least received by that household.

I cannot reach him either... I am concerned about what might have happened, too, both for the ones waiting and for Matt. I suspect it must have been something unusual and serious.

Has either of you contacted the Troopers and asked if they can find anything in their logs that might indicate what happened?

Why not just call the post Office? I guarantee you they know the guy if he gets his mail there. Don't be accusatory in your inquiry. Just say he has done some transactions online that haven't been fullfield and with his reputation there has to be something wrong and his friends are worried about him. If he hasn't picked his mail up someone needs to do a well fare check.

That's how I would handle it. JMO

We don't have sheriff departments in Alaska. If ol boy lives outside wasilla city limits then you have to contact the state troopers. If he lives in the city limits then Wasilla pd is who you would call.. I hate to say it they probably wouldn't do anything. Troopers are extremely short handed due to budget cuts.. Wasilla PD couldn't tell you I never dealt with them much, all I know they are underpaid and looking to get jobs with anchorage pd.

It's more like don't buy from someone with a PO box.

PO boxes are extremely common here.

A good idea is to get a phone number and talk to buyer and seller. Get home Addy as well as mailing Addy.

Especially if it is someone you haven't done business with prior.

A search of the VINE system and the Alaska Courtview shows there was a Matthew T Moore, 33, incarcerated but out of custody now. A Matthew M. Moore in custody at Spring Creek. To be there he would have have been arrested quite a while before this transaction as it is a sentenced facility.

There are three Matthew Moores with court cases this year. A Matthew W with a civil case, a Matthew J with a speeding ticket and Matthew D with a divorce.

Not much help I'm sure.

None of the Matt Moores listed are thexcessive correct ones. His worst infraction with police/AST involvement appears to be failure to carry an insurance card.

The Matthew D shows "returned mail" (from court) on 4-17.

The Matthew W was being squeezed by Bank of A for debt collection.

Thinking I would avoid "Matt Moore" as a possible alias...just cuz. smirk

Then someone finally ought to simply do that, instead of some Alaska folks claiming to know him and zip.

That's an acquaintance I wouldn't admit to at this point.

Many moons ago I wired a friend's house for him and before he got it done he had a serious "Family Emergency" that bankrupted him and created all sorts of issues in every conceivable venue...

I told him repeatedly to forget what he owed me, I understood his situation and would do anything I could to help him.

Moons later he called and invited me to a steak barbecue at his place. There, he gave me a check for what he owed, plus a chunk more. He said I was the only one that gave him space and so I was the only one to get paid in full.

It was a great object lesson in understanding how bad someone else's problem might be...

Absolutely, but with no information beyond this thread who knows what is really going on? Matt and Calvin clearly know the situation, the rest of us, not so much.

Hey now, no fun is had on an internet board if we reign in the wild speculation and conjecture - even, perhaps especially, at the expense of someone else! laugh (But, yeah...)

Based on what he had handed to him he did what he was allowed to do legally...

Whatever. Then he "legally" screwed people that he owed money and must have broke the law to over pay you. Great guy.

He is just someone posting under another name, comes around every few years when he is trying to shake a hangover and gets all confrontational, pretending to be the big guy on the North Slope, wiping up oil drops in well houses.

My rifle came with a scope, but that was part of the deal. It is the same make/model that he sold to rustywrench though.

Not sure what the deal was with the guy. He said he was a sloper. He finally contacted me, and gave me some excuses why he couldn't mail it. I told him to check the 24hr campfire as rustywrench was looking for him. He dropped my rifle off at Arctic Ammo and they mailed it down.

1st time I've ever been worried, and I've bought a ton on the net.

In order to ship a rifle, you must have a physical address on your drivers license. Call Sterling at Arctic Ammo and maybe he can look that up for you on his end.

There is NO LEGAL REQUIREMENT to have a physical address on your drivers license to ship a gun, period.

There are lots of laws against the shop giving out personal information on customers!

You are brilliant.

Tell us more about your buddy that "legally" couldn't pay people back, but somehow paid you what he owed you "plus a chunk more".

You must be one of them liberal, metrosexual types. I don't know any men that use the word 'tried', that's chick speak.
