I noticed that Lipseys Guns has raised the retail price on all number ones except the 450 bushmaster, to $1829. Actual selling prices will have to follow upwards shortly I would imagine. At some point, I'm going to be glad I bought what I did, when I did. I know they are not handling the number one from this point on, but it looks like a pretty good indication of where the prices are going.

wow. I wonder how quickly the used market will follow that price increase?

I just bought one of those $1800 No.1s for less than $900, and I'm pretty sure Darrik managed to squeeze out a few bucks for himself, so that number is likely just lip gloss for the suckers.
Mine, by the way, is very nicely done, with decent wood; well worth the actual price.
What fresh Hell is this?

Mine, by the way, is very nicely done, with decent wood; well worth the actual price. I did the same. When those are gone, which they mostly are, I'd expect a rising tide to lift all boats. Can't see the MSRP increasing and the actual selling price not following.

Stunning Brownings can be found for less than $1800, and I actually prefer them myself. I still see NIB ones from time to time. No barrel issues either. With the new .243 No.1, I'm feeling like I'm done buying (HA!), but if one of the Traditional Hunter models in .30/30, .38/55, or .357 shows up LN or NIB, something might happen!
What fresh Hell is this?

I'd still like to have one of the current Low Walls in .30-30. Seems like a natural combination - and the action should be plenty strong enough - they made them in .260 Rem and 6.5x55. Guess if they won't build one I might have to rebarrel or rebore a barrel

Yeah, a rimmed case cartridge is the only way I'd buy a single shot rifle. My strong preference is 30/30

The "lower" prices came from some close outs and inventory clean ups with Ruger and Lipsey's. Weird thing was they marked some of the current stuff down, then back up. I doubt I'll get more at the lower prices.
I enjoy handguns and I really like shotguns,...but I love rifles!

I see used Ruger #1s at gun shows in the 700-850 price range, mostly 7 mag, 30-06, and 270.

I do collect #1's, but have never scored a .30-30 with good walnut. They aren't very common

I noticed there was a 1968 model .30-06 on GB - unusual variation with AH forend, 26" barrel, and no sights. It was bid up to $2300 and didn't meet the reserve.

I just went through seven pages of No. 1s on GB, (a dangerous thing to do). It appears most of the price creep is on NIB ones of recent manufacture. One like my new .243 was $1600!
Older ones look to be about the same price as before. Saw a couple of ones I've had the hots for in the past including a SS/walnut .250 and a SS/walnut .223. Also a nice red pad 6mm Varmint. Saw some nice walnut, but no stunners.
What fresh Hell is this?

Maybe they won't sell at an acceptable rate, at those prices. I sure would not pay that much for a #1.

Bill Ruger singlehandedly revived the single shot as a serious rifle.
However, IMHO there are not many customers left compared to the available stock of used and NIB specimens.
