If you were buying 200 rounds of brass for hunting loads, (not long range stuff), which would you go with for good uniformity and ease of prep?

Nosler if I could find a good deal on it. If not, Hornady most likely.

I've had really good luck with Norma in 7-08. Very straight and uniform.

Lapua's the best, Norma and Nosler are pretty good but they cost the same or more than Lapua so I'd just go with Lapua. If I didn't want to spend that much I'd buy prvi partisan then break out the neck turner and flash hole deburr tool & go to town.

.308 Lapua for me.

I could care less about the headstamp and don't fancy paying $20 more per 100 just cause it says 7mm-08. YMMV

I should add that I've done a little loading for a friend's Rem 7 in 7/08 and it won't accept necked down Lapua, RP or Federal 308 brass with enough clearance for my taste. The factory chamber must have been made with a reamer that was on the small end of the tolerance.

I tried some Nosler and the primer hole was insanely tight. Priming was a bitch.

And the Nosler brass wasn't nearly as consistent, and, as you point out, it cost about the same as Lapua.

Lapua for the win.

Fred,

I've had excellent luck with Hornady 7-08 brass, to the point where it's all I have anymore. In fact the past couple-three years have found Hornady brass very consistent in every way.

Recently picked up another 100 new cases from one of the Internet retailers for $55 (which included shipping) and should last me a long while.

I am getting spoiled I guess, but deburring flash holes seems like really tedious work, and I have never turned necks. A few bucks to avoid those chores seems worth it to me.
Thanks, every one.

Fred-

Prepped has different meanings to different folks. You certainly don't have to deburr flash holes or neck turn. I deburred 500 pieces of prvi 22-250 brass in front of the TV watching a couple of episodes of game of thrones so didn't invest any time. I neck turned them with a cordless drill and it's pretty easy that way. I had $216 invested in those cases where 500 pieces of Lapua would be about $490. I've never neck turned Lapua so I can't say how out of round they are, but I have necked turned some Norma and it wasn't any better than standard remington, winchester, or prvi in neck concentricity.

I hear what you're saying though. If you want the best ready to shoot out of the box then get Lapua, Powder Valley usually has the best prices on it.

Deburring flash-holes is a waste of time in handloading factory big game rifles, and for most custom rifles as well, unless you're looking for smaller groups at 800 yards.

My two batches of Hornady 7mm-08 brass have had just as consistent neck thickness as most Lapua brass I've used.

But whatever.
