Seems like good shooters can be had for $900 to $1300 on GB... I have been watching about 70 of them (pun intended) and a good number sell in that range.

It's difficult to lose money on a Pre-64 unless you buy too high. They will always appreciate if you treat them right.

The 264s, 243s, and 300 H&H do appear to command higher prices, and fewer of them

I know a guy who has 2 - 270's for sale right now- one is original and in very used condition for $550 and the other one has been completely restored-checkering recut, stock restored, rifle completely rust blued as original, etc... and he is asking $795 IIRC.
I've been tempted, but I need to thin the herd down right now instead of add to my collection. My safe is full at the moment and I don't want to buy another safe before I move here soon. smile

Prices really havent gone up on them in the last 10 years or so, which is good, I can now afford them 😀

Cheapest way to a bombproof custom is Pre-64 Fwt + Micky stock = meat on the table...

You can spend more to have someone "blueprint" an action for you, it just wont be as good.

In general, even one beat to crap will still shoot well, it just won't look good. At $900 and up, it needs to look pretty decent also, especially in 30-06.

I certainly have not seen prices going up much, if at all.

I don't mind owning some but I would not look at them as an investment at this time.

That's how I got mine for $300 back about 1983. It was a "gray rat" with not much bluing or stock finish left, but good otherwise. Had it blued and eventually did the stock in matte spar poly, which eliminated the annual re-sighting. Very accurate with loads it likes.

Awesome hunting rifles, but not my first choice for pushing the envelope with handloads due to the poor gas-handling.
