I see Glock is about to release a summer special run with a few enhancements, the extended slide release and magazine release look worthwhile and I think some will have upgraded sights. However most if not all are Gen4 models. I had a Gen4 model 17 for a while but felt like the trigger pull was a bit higher and I shot it side by side with my gen 3 and never could produce as good of a group with the gun. In my feeling it was more difficult to shoot well and may have been a it less precise. Just wondering if my perception is just that "a perception" or does anyone else feel the Gen3 is a better gun?

Had 1 gen4. Have 4 gen3's.

I like them about as well, but the Gen 4 has a better mag release. The Gen 3 fit my hand just fine, so saw no advantage, personally, with the exchangeable backstraps, but some might.

I vastly prefer the Gen 2, as that is the only one I own. lol

I don't have any gen 4's, but the add on backstrap and large mag release don't do anything for me.

I have both & really can't tell much difference in my hand.

But I do prefer the mag release on the G4 as I can reach it w/o re-positioning my grip on the gun; I can't do that with a G3.

As for triggers, I can't say as I ever noticed any difference, but I rework the triggers on all of them so that's a non-issue if there is/was any difference.

I don't really see any differences in normal shooting accuracy either but I've not sandbagged or machine rested them, so I can't really say for sure if there might be some difference if I did shoot them from a good rest.

I've got 1 gen 2.5 Glock 20, a gen 3 Glock 40, a gen 4 Glock 17 and a gen 4 Glock 19. I can't tell any differences that stand out other the recoil of the 17 & 19 is significantly less than the two Glock 10mm Autos.

I wish they got rid of the finger nubs.

I think the features of the Gen 4 are better, but it's much easier to get a better trigger out of a Gen 3.

I don't see anything wrong with any of them. Have a 19 Gen 3.

Not much of a GlockGuy myself but do have a Gen 3 19 and a Gen 4/40.

The Gen 4/40 is of course the long slide in 10mm...great gun for what I wanted it for...

Have shot Gen 4 and Gen 3 19s and much prefer the Gen 3. Prefer the less aggressive checking on the grip and smaller magazine release. Would however prefer the larger slide release but the stock one works fine. The trigger pull as measured on a Lyman gauge is a 3.5# take up and 5 pound 2oz break...that is fine for me.

the finger grip nubs are a pain I prefer the gen 2 to all of them, I did grind under the trigger guard with a 1/2 diameter dowel type sander on a gen3 19 some might Dremel under there but i don't have one.

I should add that I do relieve the trigger guard under the trigger for more clearance & on any models that have the serrated trigger, I replace those with smooth triggers as well as the trigger springs & the connector ASAP.

The ZEV Tech V4 is my choice for a connector.

I prefer the Glock Gen 4's in their model 40 MOS.

I would like to try one of the G40's, my local indoor range does not have one to rent. That would be a good carry pistol for deer hunting.

If you suffer slide bite, the beavertail backstrap is a real benefit. Otherwise I do not notice much difference. Oddly, I feel the small, medium and large backstraps all work well for me.

For me the grip dimensions on the 17 and 19 gen 3 pistols are perfection. I even like the finger grooves.
The gen 4 versions with the medium backstrap is supposed to mirror the gen 3 grip but just does not feel the same to me.

There was no reason in the 9mm caliber for Glock to change the recoil assy. and the gen 3 triggers are indeed slightly better. I have never seen anyone get slide bite from a glock? so the beavertails are silly IMO.

The larger mag release of the gen 4 is not an advantage for me either (I run the vickers releases on all my gen 3's)

My vote for the best Glock is a factory gen 3 RTF 2 or a stippled grip regular gen 3 and in particular the 19 versions.

Finger hump removal is an easy diy mod.

Gen 3 has always worked fine for me, no issues with the gen 4 but I sort of stopped buying glocks by the time the 4 came out,

Speaking of triggers, anyone on the before and after accuracy? Curious what a say G17 or 19 will avg at 25 yds? And the 43.

It does seem quality ammo helps over bulk ball from reports I have seen.

So no issues on the recoil spring on the Gen 4 ? Was that an answer to a question that was never asked?
