Has anyone had this done to an existing knife?
Just curious what one of our makers here might charge to do this to one of their previously made knives with typical Micarta or G-10, new pins and lanyard tube on a typical fixed blade?

If it's a knife that I made I've done it for just the cost of the materials and return shipping. I want my customers to be satisfied with their purchase. If it's a knife made by someone else I've done it for $75 plus materials and shipping.

I think Droptine is in line with his response. I would think that the blade would either need to be fairly good quality or of high sentimental value to put that into it. Sometimes tearing apart a handle can be interesting. Tim

I was wondering about that.

Thanks, my question was just hypothetical as I don't have any knives I would currently want to re-scale. I was just thinking about it and did not remember ever reading about it here or elsewhere. Good info to know nonetheless if I were to ever severely damage or break a scale or just want to change the looks of a knife.
The question was posed with the assumption that the maker doing this would be working on one of his own knives.
Thanks,

I have had several done. Cost runs around $100 plus shipping. I give that work to a fellow in NY State, and he does a marvelous job.
