I gave this 1851 Navy Colt 44 - Sheriff Model to my Uncle this past Christmas. I have the same thing in a 7.5" barrel. They are loads of fun to shoot!

Anybody else love shooting these smoke wagons as much as I do?

I love the shooting, but hate the cleaning. I think we've got a Walker Colt and a Colt Navy in the safe. I don't think we've ever shot either one. I've got my Hawken for bp deer season. I still think you're from Shreveport and just can't spell it.

I gave up Cap 'n' Ball when I bought two Cimarron Uberti 1872 Open Tops in 44. They're just too beautiful to burn Holy Black cartridges in.
After shooting them, cleaning up after black powder became a chore and my 1848 and 1851s went into retirement.

I had an Uberti Richards Conversion Navy for awhile. I wish I still had it. The only downside is having to watch what 38 Special load you put in lest you stretch the frame.

I have a 7.5" brass frame .44 as well. I don't shoot it often, for the same reasons already mentioned. I put mine together from parts I scrounged over the years, ended up buying a stripped frame on gunbroker. I got it all together and was very happily surprised with how well it shot.

My 1851 Navy is shootable, but it needs a new set of walnut grips. Trouble is I don't know if it is the new profile grip or the old one. Is there an easy way to tell the difference? It's a 2nd generation model.
