Hey fellas recently acquired a gently shot Laredo BOSS G-prefix, 6 digit serial number.

Are the trigger and extractor worth keeping after tuning?

Or better to replace with a Timney trigger and Williams extractor?

Not worried about preserving resale value, just function and reliability.

I think most would advise to keep the trigger but change out the extractor.

Yep, especially on the Classic... However, some of the later ones already had the Williams extractor installed from the factory.. But since it's a 6 digit, it wasn't in that era where they had the Williams extractor... I'd replace it if it were mine, but definitely keep the factory trigger. JMHO..

DO NOT replace that trigger.. With just a little machine work and proper stoning that NH trigger is as good as any on the market (save Jewell) and it'll cost you tons less. Same with the extractor; it most likely just needs a little tuning..

I am curious what surfaces on the trigger you would machine and which you would stone.

I have neither the tooling or skill set to try but just want some knowledge and education.

You can do a lot with spring adjustments and tweaking.

I like to smooth surfaces, careful not to alter geometry.

My . 375 H&H Classic NH now has a super 3# trigger, wasn't that hard.

And, I'm not a professional.

Gotcha Dirt, myself, I have always shot tuned M700 by others or Timney.

I dont trust myself enough to mess with triggers 😉

Great suggestion if you can't tune one yourself... The oldstyle trigger can be tuned to be excellent IMO...

I read somewhere that the new SC MOA trigger can't be retrofitted to the older Classic/pre-64 type trigger, the attachment set up is different.

I've never examined the MOA trigger. Is that true?

No idea, got a NH Winnie to go throttling with....but waiting for new tubes before going to Redneck.

Yep, that is true.... I'm sure if there was a way, redneck would have figured it out by now. He hates that damn trigger... I really don't mind it though. The one's I've owned and thrown ernie's springs in were pretty good after just the spring replacement.. Generally down to a very smooth crisp 2.5 pound pull wt..
