I'm going to grab one of the Burris FastFire 3 sights, just haven't decided between the 3moa or 8moa. It'll be going on my SBE if it matters.

For guys that have a Burris FF 3, what do you prefer?

Hands down the 3moa dot as it is actually larger than 3moa. There's no way I'd want the 8. It would work if you found a screaming deal, but it'd have to be a really good deal for me to try it.

All of mine are 3MOA. Once you shoot enough turkeys with it, it becomes easy to judge distance based off the size of the dot in relation to the turkey's head size.

I have the FFIII on my H&K SBE with a "speedbump" mount. THIS is the ULTIMATE turkey setup with a 24" barrel and a Kicks .660 with Longbeard 1 3/4 oz #5's

Ok, ok.........I bought one yesterday from the local Cabela's store, $199 on sale.

The speed bead should be here tomorrow. And tips for mounting/sighting in?

Big piece of cardboard - 4x4 slip sheets are nice. 25 - 40 yards depending on your preference.
Draw a black dot (baseball size) with a sharpie.
From a bench with both a front and rear bag, shoot at the dot.
Walk to the cardboard and find the center of your pattern.
Draw another black dot with the sharpie in the center of your pattern.
Return to the bench and place the gun back on the bags.
Place the red dot on the first black sharpie dot.
Without letting the gun move, use the supplied screw driver to move the red dot to the black dot in the center of the pattern.
Shoot to confirm. It'll require some tweaking with different loads etc.


Make sure to loosen the set screws before turning the adjustment screws. I always try to center the red dot in the Fastfire over the barrel before I shoot. Pretty simple really.

I've also heard say to start this process with something like 7 1/2 - 8 shot for a denser pattern easier to see at 20 yds then after that use fine tune to the exact loads you will be using.

Yea-- start with low brass dove loads to get dialed in, then stretch it out to 40 and 50 yards.

Agreed, I start at about 15yds with dove loads. Then I do the dot trick SAS talked about. Works like a champ.

The mount came today, I plan on hunting Friday morning and don't think I'll have time to shoot it in tomorrow.

I got a FF3 this year and it is awesome! Struggled to get it sited in on my mossberg 535. I had order a spacer that goes in between the mount and site. Hopefully you won't have any issues, but if you do let me know! They sent me 2 spacers and I only needed one. Would be happy to send it your way.

Decided to mount it up last nigh then hunt with it without the FF3 in place since it wasn't shot in. Well, I had a hell of a time with it last night and finally gave up and hit the rack. Seems that for some reason the speedbead pin wouldn't go into the hole in the receiver.

Tonight after work I tapped the pin back and forth a few times in the mount then gave it another whirl. It worked and now it all is snug. I'll hunt with the gun tomorrow, using the mid/front bead set up then hopefully get to put it on paper over the weekend.

That's funny as everyone is different I had a 3moa and sold it to buy the 8moa I love the 8 much better then the 3 to each there own wish they made a 6
