So as some of you remember I bought a 2006 Titan.
The day we got it, it displayed the SES. I got the dealership to replace it. They had Midas replace it. That lasted about 2000 miles before the SES light came on for the same Cat. Midas didn't want to play nice and was going to charge me 400 bucks labor (beyond 90 days) for labor.
So I bought a Walker brand and had a reliable friend install it. Fast forward about 500 miles and the SES light came on again, this time for the drivers side Cat.
Two weeks ago I bought another one from Advace auto. My guy was going to install it this weekend. This is the unusual part. Three days ago when I went to work, I started it up and NO SES. I had my guy put it on his scanner that evening and it can't detect anything wrong. It is like it did a re-gen. Miricales do happen.

I recently bought a 2002 gas Ford Superduty. Crawled around under it while fixing an exhaust leak that I used as a bargaining chip when I was dickering with the seller, I found that it has no cats at all! It has a full custom true dual exhaust on it. They reinstalled O2 sensors in the pipe with weld in bungs and it doesn't throw a CEL somehow. I am not a big hater of cats like some guys, as long as they aren't giving problems they don't bother me but it sounds like you're having issues with yours. I don't know what your state's emissions laws are like but you might get by with a hollowed out cat or none at all. Of course if it's fouling them out that fast you likely have a bigger issue somewhere that you need to track down.

Yeah Texas has emissions standard, for now. But the thing is it doesn't show any codes.

Some cat back systems sound nice, but reduce back pressure too much. Causing issues with catalytic converters, O2 sensors, codes.

Yeah Texas has emissions standard, for now. But the thing is it doesn't show any codes. Do they have actual testing or just visual inspection? Sometimes the actual catalyst element has been known to simply 'fall out' of the housing. So long as there are no post-catalyst O2 sensors the computer shouldn't even know they are hollow.

These days cat's cause little to no performance problems - no real reason to delete them. Back in the day when introduced and engine management systems weren't as well designed and leaded fuel was still around, yes.
