I got this one off Gunbroker , just picked it up from my FFL this AM.

Made in 1969 if I'm deciphering the date code right. Condition is excellent.

Have one just like it, threaded for a suppressor with a Leupold 4x RF scope on top. Really likes Eley Subsonic HP's and Remington Subsonic HP's. Surprisingly accurate for a "won't break the bank" rifle. I think you'll like it !

I have a LH one I got at least 30 years ago and it has been a real sweetie in the accuracy department. The excellent accuracy makes the looks of the rifle appear considerably better.

And I'm still using it for squirrels and prairie dogs.

You will enjoy your new rifle very much.

I wish you guys would stop talking about rebarreling rimfires... My 581 is already accurate enough for my needs... Although I did just spring for a Timney trigger for it...

I had a couple of other LH 22's and did not have a 17 HM2. It was the natural thing to do. Actually, I'm really glad I did it.

I had a clean little 4x20 Bushnell laying around , rings already on it , so I clamped her down.

5 shots @ 50 yards , I dropped one must be the moon phase.

I just might be able to work with this. *

*Note to self , Tighten up loose nut behind trigger.

6mm/250,

Curious as to what 22lr ammo you used? I bought a Rem 581 lefty a year ago and just have not gotten around to scoping the rifle yet.

CCI Standard Velocity. I have had good results in a variety of 22s with that ammo. It is my "go to" ammo.

Years ago I used Remington Subsonic but I quit it after getting a bunch of misfires , maybe Remington has corrected that problem by now I don't know. I try to stay away from any Remington 22 ammo now.

I also tried some Winchester 333 bulk pack ammo in this rifle but I had poor accuracy , a misfire and a failure to extract so I will look to something else if I want to shoot a high velocity load in this rifle.

They are accurate enough that we had ours drilled and tapped for a rail mount. Have a 10x SS on it now and we enjoy shooting clay pigeons at extended ranges with it. Probably not for everyone, but I like the strength of that scope and ring combo. Might do my other one some day. That's a real good 50 yard group you had.

A bit better yesterday. 5 shots @ 50 yards , still with CCI SV

I expect the rifle is more capable than the shooter

I bought mine here on the Fire from one of you guys several years ago. After refinishing the stock it's become one of my favorites. Mine really likes CCI Blazers. Problem is I have not seen any of those in several years.

They say everything happens for a reason.
For me that reason is usually because I've made some bad decisions that I need to pay for.
