Got a Tikka T3 Superlite in 223 (1-8 twist)
Going to be used as a multipurpose rifle- range plinking, coyotes and our smaller whitetails. I was all set on a Nikon Monarch 2-8 but remembered how much I really like Meopta optics and for $50 more can pick up a 3-10 from Doug. Anyone else with a super lite think the 3.5-10 Meopta would be too heavy for the little 223?

Don't know anything about the Meoptas except that they seem to be a good scope from what I read on the 'fire but I have a Redfield Revolution 4-12x40 on a couple of mine. They come up for sale in the $150 - $175 dollar range and the optics are certainly adequate for varmint shooting, akin to a Leupold VX-1 IMO, fairly lightweight, the adjustments are a little soft on the feedback but they hold well, and they have the Leupold lifetime warranty. A bargain for the dollars IMO.

Didn't really answer your question but just threw in another option for you to consider.

Well this got handled quickly! Got an offer from a friend/member for a 3.5-10 Meopta at a price I couldn't turn down. I'll probably move a 2.5-8VX3 from my 30-06 to the T3 223 and put the Meopta on the 30-06. Gotta love the fire and fellow gun/scope junkies.

I've got to decide on that same Meopta, that same Nikon, a 2-7 Kahles, a 2-7 Terra, or a 2-7 Leupy...among others I have laying around, for a T3 SL 260 and a Savage LWH 243, when I get back. Not sure any of those are too heavy for even a 5.5# rifle.

Kind of depends on the ammunition you shoot, with an 8 twist .223; don't it?

I load only 75/77gr bthp to match specs. I put an Athlon 4-14x Talos BTR in 30mm Warne T3 rings. Illuminated FFP reticle and exposed tactical turrets, side-focus parallax. Very nice feature packed scope that sells for under $300... Actually pretty compact compared to most tactical models. An 8 twist T3 has decent longrange potential. The Athlon Talos BTR seemed a good entry point to discover the potential.

Easy choice there. The Kahles hands down.
