Yes, you drew. Don't know if it is your 1st, 2nd or 3rd choice.

Yes, you drew. Don't know if it is your 1st, 2nd or 3rd choice. 1st choice was 2nd rifle, 2nd choice was a PP.

No deer three years in a row. Not even trying for hi points areas. DNR told me the areas required 0 PP. Non residence friends all drew 3 years in a row.....frustrating.

590 RES DEER
I probably got a plains doe tag since it takes 2 points to draw the buck tag in the unit where I applied and I drew last year.

I just got my moose refund in today's mail. Now I have 3 points plus 17 weighted points. It maybe time to throw in the towel.

Before giving up,you might try a cow tag ,just to say you shot a moose in CO.That is what I did. Even that took me 16 years though

Ok school me
2017-491 Non Resident Deer App 2017-059 habitat stamp with license 2017-591 Non Resident Deer
So I have both an 4 and a 5 number. Also put in for only one area then refund.
So I'm guessing I got it?

Yes you did. Yup thanks. I went and found the old gohunt link. https://www.gohunt.com/read/skills/how-to-navigate-colorado-early-backdoor-draw-results#gs.=47vadE

I spoke to a Wildlife Officer at the ISE in Jan and he said you MUST have 4 points before you're eligible but not sure I understand the weighted side. I also got my moose refund and buck deer so far.

Nope.Three points is all you can accrue.Just like sheep and goat. Here is what CPW sent me a few years ago about weighted points.
They assign your application a random draw number when it comes to the office that number is divided by the number of weighted pp's you have lowering your draw number. (the lowest draw number gets the license). If you get a low draw number and have the most weighted pp's then you should have the lowest draw number. It isn't a concrete thing, let me explain further and here is where we say it increases your probability of drawing. Example: applicant 1 gets assigned a draw number (round numbers are easier for examples) of 120 and has 3pp's and 3 weighted points so we divide his draw number by 3 thus lowering his draw number to 40. Applicant 2 Is assigned a draw number that is higher, say 150 but he has 5 weighted pp's so we divide by 5 giving him a draw number of 30 so he will have a lower draw number than applicant 1. But if they both had the same number of weighted pp's and in the above scenario the person with the lowest randomly assigned computer number would win the license. It is possible for someone to draw a license just because he was lucky enough to get a low number in the beginning. That's why the number just increases your law of probability in the draw the more weighted pp's you accumulate over a newer applicant increases your odds each year. Hope I haven't totally blown the explanation or raised any larger questions. It has always been easier for me to explain in person or on the phone. Good luck in your draws this year. Hope you get a low draw #.

This is actually the IT department full employment act. I have been applying for moose licenses since day one. What it all boils down to me is it's pretty much an open draw, everything boils down to that "random" number you get from the luck of the draw and then the math to give you a number that is luck of the draw. Seems to me a lot of work and computer programming just to get an open draw. I'd just as soon they drop all the pretense and just throw us all into one big pot and we take our chances on a simple draw. That's what it kinda turns into after you get your 3 points anyway. I've had several friends draw moose tags that didn't have half of the points I do, good for them, so lets give up the pretense that all of of this verbal judo of weighted points and some math formula and just do a simple draw from all the applicants. Thems my thoughts.
The older I get the better I was.
