How hard is it to replace a firing pin in a Winchester 94? A friend of mine has one that will only shoot if the gun is pointed down. Level or up it just dimples the primer. Thank you for your answers.

does the firing pin stick out enough to fire it when you push it forward, if so then it probably needs a good cleaning, I bought one at a yard sale for $50.00 that was gummed up with what looked like candy, I have no idea what that was, but after a good cleaning it worked fine.

Not too difficult. I have replaced the firing pin in my 94. There are instructions on the interwebs.

The firing pin may be broken or gummed up but if it's been shot much the rifle could be out of headspace. Misfiring is a common sign tha a 94 has gotten a bit loose. Might check the headspace and replace the locking block with a thicker one if necessary. I think they used to make something like 20 different thickness of locking blocks for just that reason. Something to be aware of.
