I sat next to a young man Saturday night night at a graduation reception. He is from Denmark, and had been back to Denmark recently. I asked him if Denmark was largely socialistic,. He said, yes, very much so, the state runs your life.
He added, he did not understand why the US wants to follow Europe when socialism has proven to be a failure there.

Ive always thought that having been subjects for so many generations, they had a tendency to respond favorably to autocrats. Seems as there is another revolution due....everywhere.

A very good friend of mine here in town, is Russian. Andre and his wife Yulea are both from there. He is from Moscow, she is from Leningrad. They have both been US Citizens for over 20 years, and are very capitalistic. She has a Masters and a PhD. He runs several businesses.
Their keep telling me they left Russia to escape 'the communism, and bemoan the fact that America is just as much communist now as Russia was.

Had a guy from the UK came over here to work and get on health insurance for his wife's illness...
This was years before Obama car crap...
He bragged on the European system ,less work hrs gun control and on and on...also barged we had best healthcare in the world and he was making great money...somhow I couldn't get him to make the connection....
