We Shall call it the Model Seven CDL Mountain Rifle.... grin

Started the germ of an idea a new build weeks ago. Ordered a couple barrels in .243 and when they came in, lo and behold, one was from a Remington Mountain Rifle.

Build took off in a new direction...more of a refurb than a build per se. Ive got a Model Seven CDL in .22-250 which I was never completely satisfied with, I started thinking.....a couple more inches of barrel, and one that will shoot premiums if I want it to....Hmmmmmmm....

Redfield 2x7 seems to fit....

The Mountain Rifle Contour fit the Seven CDL exactly, and Im waiting on an English Red pad to complete my little project...

Watch the recoil on that sumbitch. You're not used to those hard kicking rifles.

That won't work, everyone knows that you cannot kill an elk with a 243 unless you are a woman or a kid.

I know it must be true because I read it on the internet and in an a gun magazine.

I had a Mod 7 Synthetics 260 that didn't shoot well, so put a 220 Swift Classic take-off barrel on it. I had a brake put on it ( neck surgery) and it was a killing machine. Traded it to a rancher in Texas on a Scimitar Oryx hunt. I later had another Mod 7 Syn made up into a 6mm/284 that worked fine, gave it to a friend later. Last one was a Mod 7 Syn that started out as a 22-250 AI, then barrel was replaced later in 6.5 Creedmoor. They make handy rifles, I'm sure you will enjoy yours! Oh yeah, on that Oryx hunt, I used a 6x47mm ( 223 mag necked up) with a Barnes 85gr xbt going 2900fps ( 243 specs!) it had a long barrel to get me there, but it put the hammer on an axis doe and then the bull Oryx (neck shot) Nothing wrong with a 243 pard!

You heading back up the caliber ladder? Should I pack up the Ingwe Special?

No...not really...I already have a .243, so this isn't exactly uncharted territory. And I feel confident enough with it that theres nothing in the lower 48 Id hesitate to use it on...

Why did you change scopes? You had a Redfield 2-7x on it earlier.

I changed scopes simply because:
A) I like the bigger Leupy Better and

B) The rifle was set up as a lightweight little carry rifle for climbing the hills. My climbing in the future will be relegated
to climbing the steps into box blind. A few extra ounces wont make much difference there!
