My wife has hosted sparrows in her martin house no martins.
These premises insured by a Sheltie in Training ,--- and Cooey.o "May the Good Lord take a likin' to you"

Martins can be particular about where they set up shop. They like to be out in the open, away from any trees, shrubs, or anything that could conceal predators. They like to be within 1/2 mile of a large water-source, where they'll catch 100% of their food for chicks. They also like their houses to be up 10-15 ft.
