The one exception is the 270 WSM, which exceeds 270 Win ballistics by a bunch, bringing it up to 270 Wby levels without the ammo expense, limited rifle selection, free-bore issue, etc. Mine is in a newer Steyr Classic Mannlicher half-stock, so accuracy is superb. I've now relegated my 7 Rem Mag to 160gr loads, and use 130 and 140gr in the 270 WSM.

I agree with you Biebs. The 270 WSM gives you 270 Weatherby performance in a short action rifle. I think that's a good combination.

The etips/Barnes have been good to me. The ballistic tips were pretty messy at WSM speeds

I bought my Winchester Model 70 Laminated classic .270WSM when they first came out back in mid 2003. I like the 140gn Nosler Accubond behind 69.5gns H1000, it's a great combination that performs well on game and shoots very accurately.

It's a good cartridge, one of my favorite of the short fat craze. 130TTSXs at 3250ish will do nice things. 130NPTs are no slouch either.

Well, about two or three more recommendations and we should have almost every .277 bullet covered here. Sarcasm aside and, in keeping with the intent of the thread, mine really liked 140 Accubonds and they are a good all around bullet.

In looking at dingo's post above, that looks like he may have been hunting in Africa. That's impossible. Don't people who hunt more than 100 miles from home, with a "non-standard" caliber/cartridge always lose their ammo?

I wish it was Africa, but in reality, it's NT Australia.

That explains it, you were in your home country. Nice tusks on that critter dingo.

So I ended up with a box of 130 TTSXs today as well, wanted to compare. Looking like a busy Memorial Day weekend of spending time in my basement laboratory working on loads!👍

RL22 did very well with 150 Partitions as well.

And I got mine about the same time as you Dingo. It has always been a super accurate rifle for me. Love the 270 WSM

I've been loading for Dad's A-Bolt for a while. 65.5 grn of RL-22 under either a 130 Partition or Ballistic Tip and a Fed. 215 in Winchester brass gives around 3150 and sub 3/4" pretty much all day.
I'd think about trying RL-26 and 140 Accubonds or Hornady's 145 ELDX, but Dad will never kill anything that will know the difference or shoot far enough for the speed or BC to matter. I did once ask him about going to 140 Accubonds; "what's wrong with my 130 Partitions?" he replied, skeptically.
When he first bought the rifle, he poleaxed a big dog that was in a pack chasing deer on our place. It stopped about 300 yards out in a field (Dad's never shot AT anything over 100 yards), Dad got a good rest on his blind and pulled the trigger. He now carries that rifle as though it is the Hammer of Thor.........

Keep the feedback coming. I just started working w a 270 WSM. Picked up some R26 hoping it will be a good choice for Berger 140,s and 150's.
