Couple of thoughts from somebody who has actually been involved in bidding and procurement of pistols and ammo.

Any agency that specs their practice ammo in the bid is crazy.

It's not unusual to have wide variances in ammo for duty and practice, and for those differences to affect how the gun functions.

Switching training ammo isn't always an option. When you're talking about millions of rounds, things get pretty complicated.

In regards to spec-ing the training ammo, my comment was neither in support or antagonistic. But if the ammo was laid out as a required ammunition in the bid, then Sig is on the hook. If it wasn't, then they may not be on the hook.

Even if it was spec'd out in the bid, what REALLY matters is the language of the contract between NJ and Sig; because THAT will end up being the letter of the law.

The striker guns did better in both water and mud from the video. I watched his videos water, sand, mud. Secondly thanks for posting the extra info on the lawsuit, does read like a lot of quality issues.

I have over 30K rounds of Wolf/Tulanmo ammo thru my West German made(carbon steel slide) Sig Sauer P226. Not 1!!! Ever a problem with that ammo as far as reliability. Dirty? Yes! Stinky? Kinda. I am a member of the Elks, and we do a charity shoot every year for The Disabled American Veterans. I supply a lot of the weapons. Fundraiser $$$ buys ammo. Back when the Obama ammo scare happened a fellow Elk bought 5K rounds of Wolf. Ol' Siggy burnt thru most of it in a week. Dirty as a MF, but worked without a hiccup. Spray in some WD-40, rack the slide a few times and good-to-go.I was more worried about my mags holding up. They did, and still do. Gun needs a new finish as the old one is worn off. The older internal extractors are great. Don't know about the newer Stainless Steel slide with external extractors. My pistol loves all/any,absolutely any 9mm. From Glazer to +P+ full sub machine gun ammo.

Kinda weird issues, not really typical of Sig pistols.
Believe it or not, just about every handgun manufacturer that supplies to LE has run into a situation similar to this. It has happened to Glock on many occasions, but also S&W, FN, H&K, etc...even Colt back in the revolver days. There always seems to be that one customer where everything just goes completely wrong for the manufacturer.

Has any other LEO had problems with their P229 pistols? Or it only the NJSP?
