Further down the drain New York shall go...........

WTH?! New York City Puerto Rican Parade Will Honor Convicted Terrorist

Posted at 6:30 pm on May 23, 2017 by Teri Christoph.

NYC’s Puerto Rican Day Parade has long been an occasion for city dwellers to let their freak flags fly, and this year is no different. In fact, parade organizers are doubling down on their radical leftist tendencies by honoring a convicted terrorist, Oscar López Rivera, with a “National Freedom Hero” award.

Just one small thing … López Rivera just last week finished serving 35 years in jail for his part in terrorist activities that resulted in the deaths of ten Americans and the maiming of a dozen others. López Rivera was a part of Fuerzas Armadas de Liberación Nacional (FALN), a Marxist-Leninist paramilitary group that used violence in the 1970s and 80s to advocate for Puerto Rican independence. He claimed at the time to be an anti-colonial combatant, and argued that he couldn’t be prosecuted. (He also denies being a terrorist: “I do not have blood on my hands, and that’s why I cannot be a terrorist,” he said after he was released on May 17.)

Prosecutors begged to differ, and he received a 55 year sentence that Obama commuted last year.

Parade sponsors are horrified at the decision of the parade committee to honor this guy, who played a role in forever denying ten Americans their freedoms, with a freedom award.

Police groups were among the first to pull out of the parade, with the NYPD and the NYPD’s Hispanic Society announcing their intention to boycott. The FDNY officers’ union and FDNY Hispanic Society on Tuesday announced the same.

Other major corporations and parade mainstays including the New York Yankees, AT&T and JetBlue will also boycott the parade. Latin-American food giant Goya Foods also has pulled its sponsorship, but wouldn’t attribute the decision to the López Rivera invite.

And yet, these same people convulse, at the sight of a Confederate flag. I'm from the North, and have no great love for it, but no great hate, either. Communist flags kinda bother me, I gotta admit. It seems the latest progressive thinker crowd, is all on board with Marxist/Leninist/Communist/Socialist movement. Their "independent thinking" (manipulated by their academia rooted mentors) shows their naiveté. I am curious as to how they think such systems will actually work this time, as opposed to their historic and documented failure.

I am from the South, and put Confederate flags on 2 of my Great Grandfathers
Graves every Decoration Day at out Cemetery, along with some other graves of Confederate soldiers. That is the only time that I display that flag. It has its place in History and should be respected as such. My flag is the Stars and Stripes. miles

I'm from the north country and my flag is also the Stars and Stripes, just finished proudly displaying it for the day. I've also got a Stars and Bars Confederate flag that I used to display but now can't seem to because somebody gets their shorts all wadded up over it and I get blamed for being a racist. Some things just ain't worth it; they win again.

The things that come to those that wait may be the things left by those who got there first.

There's a Bill Clinton connection to those FALN terrorists but I can't recall all the details.... Something to do with when he was president I think he let some of them off the hook for something and there was a growing uproar which was immediately ignored by the MSM and because it involved a Clinton it all quickly vanished. How typical............ Nowadays nothing that goes on in NYC surprises me; it might as well be a foreign country.

Clinton gave several of them pardons as long as they renounced violence.

Oscar López Rivera passed on renouncing violence so he stayed in jail. Obama commuted his sentence right before leaving office.

U.S. President Bill Clinton offered López Rivera and 13 other convicted FALN members clemency in 1999, on condition they renounce violence, but López Rivera rejected it. On January 17, 2017, President Barack Obama commuted López Rivera's sentence and he was released from prison on May 17, 2017

I'm pretty certain when we sing our anthem and mention the land of the free, the original intent didn't mean cell phones, food stamps and birth control.
