Inherited my late uncles 22 Magnum Marlin 57 M. Most gawd aweful looking lever action I ever did see. But she can shoot. Feeds slick, I like her and now I have a 22 Magnum. I haven't used 22 magnum ammo in 30 years. Prices have climbed. Now they make real honest jacketed, not just plated ammo. Gonna be fun this summer trying my new rig out. Know any "economy" real jacketed 22 magnum stuff good for coyote? Saw some Fiocchi for $10. I aint gonna pay $17 for rimfire.

They made real honest jacketed ammo 30 years ago too. In fact, they made it right from the beginning in 1959 when Winchester introduced the WMR.

Well if it shoots and functions and was free, I'd say that was BEE-YOU-TEE-FULL! I think the tube magazine version is a little homelier that the clip ones, but that's just an opinion.

IMO the magnums aren't for plinking, and never were. They are for killin' and they DO that. By that standard, they are cheap. Near 50 tasty or troublesome critters per $20 inc. tax? Works for me.

Thnx guys. Its a tube fed. Your right, not a full on plinker. I imagine I will get thru the plinking phase very quickly. That's what a LR is for. Never had a magnum. Never seen it perform on game. Good bit louder! Ordered a weaver base for it. My father said that it did have a scope on it at one point and the base and rings are around somewhere. I ain't crossing my fingers on that one. Gonna do a little research and get a nice new made scope that it would have had on it back in the 60's-70's. No electro dot crap on it.

Those things are killers. Cleared every squirrel on my property with one.

Great lever gun, I found one sitting unclaimed on lay a way at a Western Auto I worked for in southwest Georgia in the early 70's. I paid about $60 for it IIRC. Kept it for at least thirty years.

Unsung heroes of the rimfire lever world IMHO. Yes they are a little bit of a red headed step child to look at (to some people) but most all shoot well above average for what they are. They have gone up in value over the last 10 yrs. wish I had bought a truck load of them years back. I would like to get my hands on one of the magnum models sometime.
