I'm right here. I sent a PM. Look for a flashing envelope near top center of the screen.

Nice low mount..how much drillin and tappin is required?
Looks like you may be using existing holes.
Looks like a fine piece of work..I'm sure more than one Savage guy has your mount.
Don't know how I missed it before !?

I have several 99's and 1899's with Lightfoot mounts including this 303 SRC. I think the mount may even help with accuracy since it makes a solid bridge between the barrel and receiver. When I was working up loads for this SRC I shot a 5 shot 7/8" group at 100 yards with 150 grain round nose bullets and I believe 27 grains of 3031. When I upped the load to 30 grains of 3031 it still shot two 1 1/8 to 1 1/4 inch groups. This is the load I used to kill the elk in the 3 favorite gun post.

Scroll up to the post that has a picture of the mount and click on Lightfoot's name and a window will open and you can send him a private message, Joe.

I just recently purchased a mount from Lightfoot. It wasn't cheap, but was very well made. After getting and installing it I wondered how he could make the mount so reasonably priced for what he had to put into it. If I ever get another 99 Lightfoot will be the first to know because the first thing I would do is order another one of his mounts. Thanks Lightfoot.

Thanks much! It is a very labor intensive transformation. I had hoped for a lower price point in the beginning. That was before I discovered the cost of tig welding and all of the associated pieces and supplies. I'm really not in it for the money.

I use a mount with bases I can see over if I want to remove the scope in the field to see over and use my 99F's open sights.

I can see over the Weaver mount bases if I remove the scope by loosening it's rings side screws.

Hi, I just joined the forum, and just bought my first Savage 99. It is an 1899 250-3000, made in 1917. To be 100 years old, it is in great condition. Looks original except for a Redhead recoil pad someone added years ago. It has a Redfield sight mounted on the receiver. I noticed that a member named Lightfoot makes a scope base that I would be interested in. Can't wait to shoot this rifle and see what it will do.
