Thinking about going with a 20 next year. Was looking at the Winchester 20 SXP but understand they had or have a few issues. Have always had good luck with the Mossbergs and like the idea they are drilled and tapped as I use a red dot (Burris) sight. I also have to shoot left handed due to loss of vision in my right eye so the safety is ideal for that. Will probably shot the Fed HW 7's as recommended on here. Any experience with this gun?

The Mossberg with a Trulock choke would be a good choice. If you like the tang safety, check out the Browning BPS as well, especially the Upland Special. I shoot both guns left-handed and prefer the BPS because it feels more solidly built and is bottom eject.

What are the issues with the Winchester? I'd take that 100 times out of 1000 over anything mossberg.

The Winchesters are on recall as they were going off when the round was loaded. Don't know if they got them all in but I'm not taking a chance. I must add that as a retired Gunsmith, I have worked on a lot of Winchesters but very few Mossbergs. They ain't the prettiest gun in the world but they sure do work and are reliable. The Military thinks so also. Not knocking Winchesters but they are made in Turkey and except for Sako's I would rather buy made in America

I've been using a Mossberg 510 mini 20 GA for the last three years. With a trulock #7 choke and federal heavyweight it will do 155-170 in the 10" at 40 yards. I thought about buying a sa-459 for next year but the little Mossberg has accounted for 7 gobblers, so I bought a couple hundred bucks worth of shells instead. Can't go wrong with it.

Well, you guys have me leaning towards the Bantam. Burris red dot sight, half inch slip on pad and little over five lbs sounds great for this 80 year old body. Thanks

I have one as well. I set it up for my son but have carried it a few times. I installed an ATI talon stock on it and gave it an ASAT rattlecan paint job. I have a carlsons choke in mine and shoot either hevi7s or federal HW7s. Either will work well but I personally like the federals better. I don't think you will be disappointed in it.

If you are going to use a fastfire, I would suggest either a cheek riser or aftermarket stock. With the factory stock, you will probably have to lift your cheek off the stock as it has a good biit of drop to it.

I put an ati 6 position pistol grip stock on mine. It doesn't have much drop and works well with my fastfire. The one I purchased was said to be for 12 ga. only but it works fine on my 20.

I'm waiting to hear back from Mossberg. What mount did you use for your fastfire, To get one from Mossberg is pretty expensive for a twenty. I'm waiting for a quote on a stock from them and we have been using godagrip cheek risers on our rifles and shotguns and they work pretty well. Grabagun seems to have the best price for the gun. Is your replacement stock camo and how much did it bring the weight up? I've got till next season to get the gun but my Wife says she knows its going to be a lot sooner. Thanks for your input.

I have a Burris FF3 mount for the marlin 336, which fits the Mossberg also. Another option is to call Sumtoy and buy one of their mounts.

My stock is black. Thought about getting it dipped. Weight gain compared to stock is negligible.

I've had the 500 Bantam and the SXP Turkey. The Win is hands down a much better gun. The trigger on the 500 was terrible, it was way off on POI, the bbl was rough, and perceived recoil was terrible for a 20ga. That gun had more perceived recoil than any 20ga I've patterned hands down. I shot two turkeys with it and sent it down the road. My BIL asked me to set up another one for my Nephew last year and it was just as bad recoil wise and the POI was so far off that open sights didn't have enough adjustment. When I carried him hunting this year, he used my 870 Youth instead. Mossberg guns work, but they do not compare to other more expensive guns. They are cheaper for a reason....

I use a Weatherby Sa 08 youth 20 with sumtoy choke. Between youth hunts(which I originally set the gun up for) friends using the gun, and me the gun shoots about 10 birds a year. Rarely do I grab my 12 any more, so nice and light and shoots great. I take it a few states a year and don't feel handicapped at all from my 12. Have a few of my main turkey hunting buddies that have also bought the gun and use it way more then there 12
