well just won an auction for a used but never fired 20" Encore barrel, anyone have one? the good or Bad Please! I was kinda hopeing to get out bid $255.00 not too bad tho!

Never had a 500 s&w barrel but had the same one in 460 s&w. Absolute hammer on both ends, ended up selling it to get the 357 maximum for deer hunting instead. Never regretted it once, really like the 357 over the 460.

I have a 26" .500 barrel. It is one lively mo-fo off the bench with heavy loads. I've fired the 20" guns and found them more civil.

I have one. yes shooting one with full power factory loads gets your undivided attention. accuracy was pretty good. the tc sights could not be used, I don't remember if the front sight needed to be taller or shorter but I ran out of adjustment in the rear sight before the gun was sighted in. I put a leupold 2.5 on it and it is good.

The stock dimensions on Encores and Contenders I've handled have made the iron sights unusable for me. Maybe they fit your average Ethiopian, but fat Americans need not apply.

A range buddy has one of those Katawhatzit carbines with all the barrels and loves it, but his groups haven't impressed me all that much. Not sure if it's him or the gun. Another couple inches of barrel would improve the balance a bit IMHO. All he hunts is deer, so I'm not sure why he needs the big hammers, but that's his choice, of course.
