I have three of the M1 Carbines. This Inland folder, has all the right parts in the right place, but I doubt is 'original' The others are another Inland with all the correct parts, but regular stock, and a nice parts gun, basically a Quality Hardware, with the correct RockOla barrel. All are shooters, and a lot of fun. The Quality Hardware gets a lot of time riding around as a truck gun. It has a dot sight.

That's VERY cool Sam!!

The M1 Carbine snobs will say it's not "correct" because it has late war parts, and the A1's were only made with flip sights, push button safety, and no bayonet lug. I say hogwash...Carbines were all upgraded toward the end of the war, right after the end of the war, and again after Korea. So there just is no such thing as an all original "correct" M1 Carbine. A very tiny number of M1 Carbines are likely to make it through 2-3 wars, 2-3 upgrades and be in "original" condition. Now you can make a case for "correct for a particular battle", and then a guy can admit he collected the right parts and forced the "correct". A D-Day M1A1 would have all the early parts, but battles toward the end of the war, or even Korea, you could expect A1's very much like yours.

Absolutely LOVE the patina of the stock.

it's always fun over on the M1Carbine forum, watching the geezers going back and forth about what is authentic and what is not. smile I got this one from my brother in law, who brought it back from someplace over seas back in the late sixties. Nuff said, but he swears it was like this when he acquired it in where ever that place was. US Government issued it to whomever, in that condition and with those parts.

This isn't an AR, since it takes AK magazines grin It would be a Palmetto State KS-47

shoots pretty damn well, too

so far I am pleased with it. If you like the AR ergos & design, but want 7.62x39 and AK mags, it's a good option.

Good round, and the AK magazine is without peer. Especially the Bulgarian waffle magazine. I've never seen a better magazine, regardless of platform than the Bulgarian waffle mag.

A year ago I went to a large LE sales demo put on by a few manufacturers. While there, from a reliability standpoint, the Beretta ARX-100 was impressive to say the least. I talked to a guy I know in LE sales, and he said he's been to a couple of these things where they shoot the living snot out of various weapons and that the ARX was very impressive at both. So I'm starting to learn toward the ARX. It's ugly, but the design is intriguing to say the least. Takedown is slick, and the barrel removal is super-uber-slick. Accomodation for left hand shooters is absolutely without peer...push a button and it ejects out the other side; how cool is that?
And with that quick change barrel system, caliber conversions ought to be a snap…that is, if Beretta ever makes them available. Been talk about a .300 BO for a while, but nothing has materialized. And I’m not understanding why, it should be super easy for Beretta.

LD,

That's just proper.

Sam - I agree, the AK is much better than most Westerners give it credit.

Bulgaria was a Warsaw Pact country, but it was always Christian. Today they are a democratic state, very similar to the US, and a member in NATO. 3/4 of the population is Orthodox Christians. They make pretty good brandy too.

The worst thing going for Bulgaria these days is its proximity to Greece and Turkey. grin
