Once in a while there's something I NEED at a pawnshop, the latest is a Ruger 77-22, 22LR boatpaddle, blued with rings. Not perfect but not abused.
The shop listed it at $625 back in November and has been marking it down bit by bit ever since.
This weekend was a Managers sale, everything previously marked down is 50% off the lowest price.
At $225 it had to come home,

The scope is a 3-9 with holdover dots from Cameraland a couple months ago..
Sighted in at 100yds with Norma Tac22 because I had some on hand, it grouped ~4.5", I'll try a variety to see if it has a preference.
I like a bolt action 22!

Colodog: Well you were in the right place at the right time that day!
Good for you.
I have the same Rifle in stainless and very much enjoy it.
Hope you find a good bullet for it.

4.5 inches? Well, there's lots of aftermarket options, even with the boat paddle.

Yep, it really hates the Tac22 ammo but Saturday I found out it likes Auto Match much better!

keep playing with that rifle it may want the pressure pad removed for a fully floated barrel. if you know anyone with another M77/22 that has been floated and or bedded you may want to try their stock. my all weather shot better in a walnut stock than it did in the boat paddle stock and then shot even better once i bedded and floated the stock.

Those stocks are butt ugly but I still would have bought it for that price.

"Ugly is as Ugly does" sorry, I couldn't help myself.

22 LR is so darn much fun when there's finally a bunch of ammo available to test drive.

Each 22LR rifle and pistol wants what it wants and the fun is finding the best ammo for that one and setting aside a "few" boxes!

Jim, I'm tempted to work on the stock but if it's repeatable with AutoMatch I'll leave it alone and work on a couple centerfire projects that are feeling neglected.

The stocks are simple and solid so I'll likely leave it alone other than scrubbing some neglected crud and gum out and cleaning the bore once more.

Semi autos are nice but i'll always be a bolt action guy.
