All look like good working knives. Believe me,I do understand the obsession. I have at least 100 lbs of steel and 150 lbs of exotic wood and Sambar Stag just waiting on me.

I like knives that "work". I've blanked out a few blades, taking care not to ruin the temper. I've even gone so far as to make my own micarta. One of these days I may actually complete a few. Have not been in a very creative mood lately.

As far as Buck knives go....I love em but I'd step up to one of their classic Pathfinders even if it is for a beginner.
You can find the 102's for under $40.....I've had this one for 40+ years so I know they'll last at least that long.
