Gentlemen prepare your credit cards. I just ordered mine so not worried about them running out. The LH Rem 700 blueprinted action with PT&G bolt is on sale for $390. This is better than just a blue printed action as the custom bolt comes standard.
Happy Fathers Day

"Made to order" and "Limited to stock". So, which is it?
Good luck boys. I've been waiting since March 20th for a 221 FOLLOWER from them. 4 phone calls and same story every time. PTG won't be getting any more of my business if I can help it.
The chances they come, and the chances they go. But the time. You don't get that back.

I don't know what is up on that. Sometimes they are great and others it's as if they don't care. I'll give them a call to follow up.
When I used to buy more reamers I would just call and could discuss specks with Dave Kiff. Now I hope they haven't gotten too big.
Just had a disappointing experience with another place that showed stainless lefties on line. My online order bounced and I called it in to their tech support giving the operator the SKU # when it arrived it was a righty and I had to pay a restocking fee on the return. Hope I don't get twice burned.

I went online last night and read a bunch of mixed reviews on their customer service and their order fulfillment. I am now on the fence. Hoping someone has a good review of them, as most reviews were negative, although i know that most people who have a bad experience leave reviews, whilst content people usually just go on with their day.

Wait to see how this go's before ordering.
Just checked and when I ordered it said 8-12 weeks which is OK with me. But now it is changed to back ordered so I left them a message on the account order. Let's see how long it takes them to get back with me. I hope the first listing was correct they did process the order but if I am waiting on Remington I will cancel if I am only waiting on machine time that is acceptable.
What did GW Bush say? "fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again.”
May take me three times, if I try again I will confirm it is in stock before ordering.
Hawkman as I posted before I have had numerous incidences of good customer service and products but that was when it was more of a mom & pop business than now.

Might be worth the call if you have a time limit. I have purchased several items from them over the past 2 to 3 years. All "in stock" at time of purchase. Some come pretty fast. Some, not so much. One "in-stock" item (bottom metal?), I waited more than a month before calling to check status. Was told that it was out to be anodized. Would be ready in a couple weeks. Waited another 6+ weeks before it finally arrived.
I will continue to use them. But, only when I do not have a firm time window for completion.

Yay I am not waiting on a run from Remington. PT&G got back to me in less than an hour so they are still on my good guy list so far. I have had all the parts for a couple of years and didn't want to cannibalize an existing rifle or buy a full custom action for this project so not in a huge hurry. I also have to finish two other rifles so I should be ready if they are close to their eight to twelve week time slot. Many of the custom actions can take months same with blueprinting one. From PT&G: "Yes, actions at this time are taking roughly 8-10 weeks to be completed. The blueprinted action is stocked, but the bolt is custom. With the sale that was put into place we have had a flood of orders. We are doing our best to get them shipped asap." The saga continues. I may have shot myself in both feet by posting this. But you have to keep on dancing even if lamely. They are keeping me updated so no problem there.

Hi David,
With the high volume of orders we've received for our blueprinted actions, our current lead time is approximately 12-16 weeks.
If you have any other questions, or anything else I can help with, don't hesitate to ask.
Regards,
Jim Pullen

time is better than getting a BAT action. last time I called for one of them they were quoting 13 months for an action to be completed.

18 weeks and counting. So much for instant gratification. By the time I get the action it will be like Christmas in fact it may actually be Christmas time as in slower than.
I just hope I don't change my mind on the chambering as I just got all the goodies from Graf's for a 6mm AI they took all of four days to get here.
And try getting a Custom barrel in an odd configuration if no one has it in stock or a McMillan stock.

Lol.....pt&g is an absolute disaster for 99% of its customers these days. Don't know who is running things there, but they are killing that once-respected company.

I think I ordered a $380 receiver about 10 weeks ago. Said the weren't available. I was called later and told that they were available. Credit card was charged, but no product. Called back and told they didn't have enough product to fill the orders. Called again last week and said they were making bolts, but no guess on delivery time. I pressed a little and the girl said why didn't I cancel the order. Things are sure not the same customer service wise any more.I buy what I can from Bullets.com as customer service is great and very seldom are out of stock.

8-10 weeks and counting. I think that it is a bad business policy to charge 100% upfront when there is a prolonged wait involved. Say I defaulted on one of my bad credit cards and would have to pay up to 20% for nothing. Still I anticipate a good receiver that is comparable to a custom action at a greatly reduced cost. Beggars can't be choosers but I would like to see a higher and more equitable business standard employed. Customer service will make or break a business and I know this all to well from running my own business for the last 22 years.
I'll get there eventually.

$20 on my CC is much different than $350+.

I am holding tight for now but was seriously tempted by the stainless units at Bud's. Time to check in with PT&G again.
I CC'd one of their customer service reps and they gave me a partial refund I think only holding $150 as a deposit so maybe they actually read my rants and it is pretty decent of them to do this.

The machine work on mine is visually very good. It came with the one piece fluted bolt, the small diameter firing pin and a M16 extractor. It also has a new crappy Remington trigger. The bluing job was very nice.

Butch that is encouraging. I like the straight bolt and conservative knob. It torques me when some companies charge extra for a classic handle when you don't care for the four on the floor shifter tactickool look.
Did they chase the threads and other than hardware will it need any more work? If you add up all the extras I think it is a great deal.

Somebody asked about the ones on special. I do understand the thread, just posting pics of what they should get either LH or RH. On the receiver it appears that the front ring was straightened to the bore as well as the lug abuttments. Dave said they straighten the threads, but said the newer Remington 700s have pretty good machine work out of the box. As most of you know Remington does these with CNC now.

Thanks. I think mine will be a lefty twin to yours with the same fluting. Can't wait to get into the Bourdan stock and screw on the 1/8 Krieger barrel in 6mmAI.

Under promise and over deliver they have my business for sure.

Dropped the MO in the mail one Saturday. Picked up the receiver at my FFL the next Saturday. Will send it off for a bolt knob when I make up my mind what I want to build on a short action.

Fun to see this back at the top. I finally got my follower from them. 134 days from order to delivery. 3 times they told me it was out for anodizing. when I put it in the gun and cycled 1 magazine full through it to check function, it had a big old brass scratch through the red anodizing.

Not sure what it is growing pains and military contracts? But all businesses go through this at times. I hope they get over it but probably not.

Had Kampfeld put new bolt knob on and that will be only alteration done to it. While I trued them up for drill, the last two M700 actions I've built around (both very modern, one bought from Bud's) were remarkably square and true. And both rifles shoot extremely well. PTG frustrates me. If I can buy one of their products in-stock somewhere, great! Otherwise they are very hard to work with; chaotic, right hand doesn't know what the left is doing, they don't return calls on left messages, CS is horrible if you have a problem, on and on. Not exactly confidence inspiring.
The CENTER will hold.

My action is a beauty and they treated me right. It is as good as a custom because the bolt is matched to the receiver. Funny how one business gets slammed and another is idolized.
Last Mcmillan I got didn't fit after about a three/four month wait. Sent it back and they bedded it for free in two weeks. But the barrel channel was off much wider on one side than the other and rough too. I will re-bed with black epoxy & graphite and hope it matches well enough. I don't want to send it back as it already has two coats of paint and each coat adds about 2 ozs of weight. I should completely strip it and send it back but too much of a hassel and I want to shoot the thing this season.
Melvin Forbes guy lost my paper work and they painted the stock black instead of the camo I ordered. I told Melvin black is fine but he refused to ship it since it wasn't what I ordered. He had his stock guy strip it entirely and do the paint colors I wanted. He also insisted I send color samples as verbal or photos might not work. He matched the paint chips exactly.
I will do business again with all three and chalk up these experiences to chit happens.

I'll never do business with PT&G again. Ordered a 3 Pos. Safety conversion for a Rem 700, complete with firing pin and cocking piece. Arrived rather quickly, but didn't have the right cocking piece - and it was it arrived fully assembled! You'd think the guy putting them together would know what the pieces are supposed to look like. I called, to see about getting the correct piece, and the lady answering the phone told me I needed to call a gunsmith. I had to point out that they made the parts (several times) and what I ordered was supposed to be a finished product in order to get the name of someone to speak with about it. I later called about installation instructions and the lady who answered told me I needed to call Remington Went through the same stuff as before, and apparently the ONE guy who can answer the question works at a machining center and can't be bothered to return a phone call. NEVER AGAIN

I got a call from the gunsmith about my 223 build with the PTG action. Seems there is a problem with the extractor. The crosspin is the wrong size. He said its almost falling out. After waiting 8 months they can't even turn out a quality product. Even my smith said they turn out inferior products. Cant wait for this to be done. Never deal with them again.

Did mine on the stainless actions Bud's had in stock. Turned out great and is very accurate. I didn't like the fact that PTG was cutting the bolt faces for the extractors.
