Are there two (or more) different barrel contours for 99H barrel bands? Does this change the barrel band size, or is the band flexible enough to accommodate all different sizes?

And, didn't someone have a barrel band forearm for sale recently? maybe even the band?

Thanks!

I have a barrel band forearm stashed away somewhere. I found it at a gun show years ago and always hoped I'd find a 99H missing the forearm for cheap. That never happened and probably never will.

The very earliest 99H's had the heavier rifle weight barrels but that was before the barrel bands were introduced. From about 1924 on they had the medium weight barrel that was introduced on the other models starting about 1926. At first they had a dovetail cut in the barrel for the front sight. Starting in 1935 some of the H's went to the raised ramp that was integral to the barrel that was used on the other models. The ramp had a dovetail for the front sight. The barrels for the 99H's with barrel bands should be the same other than maybe very slight variations due to polishing. David

I've got a forearm for one as well and missed the last one I saw for sale w/o the forearm! Oh the humanity.

That not only sucks but it downright hurts. I missed a recent auction where a 1903 Springfield Sporter went for about 600-bucks. That was a steal if I ever saw one. By the way, I also have an original stock for one of those. I keep it in the hope of someday finding the elusive NRA Sporter that is missing its wood. Uh, how was that put in Wayne's World - not! We should start a thread about the rifles that got away.
