I wonder how many guys that are having POI shifts have used a real scope checker to measure aiming point movement like the benchrest crowd does, and how many are simply shooting and placing all blame to the scope only for shifts. Another shooter at my club has one with a pinned T36 as a control. I can use if I ask nicely and it has been useful to eliminate all of the other variables.

I'd be willing to be MANY don't know what a scope checker is. Add the availability (not like there is a big market), cost (apparatus plus the additional frozen scope with adjustment rings) , & the aggravation of the process; you likely have your answer...

A scope checker is really something to test against small shifts that may be happening. As the BenchRest crowd have rifles that will shoot in the .1's & .2's (approximately what the reticals are shifting). With lower power scopes (typical hunting) it would be real hard to even notice that even with a checker. Now something moving nearing one inch plus, yeah that would be noticeable, but I doubt many are moving that much (unless something is broke). Still I would bet we all would be surprised how many are moving fractions considering the results of Alex's tests on the other forum (I'm assuming that being the light bulb for this thread).

However, I think if a scope really lets go (fails) it's pretty obvious with any decent shooting rifle and doubtful a scope checker is needed...

This but at times I wish I had a scope checker to avoid all the random tweeking I have done in vain.

Will you please tell me where to find this? It does not ring a bell and I would like to read it.
