I picked up a refinished 1899B that was thought to have excessive head space for a parts gun. Turns out it's just fine. Since I'm going to keep it , it would be nice to pin down the year of manufacture. Serial# 29.2xx.
I know it's from around 1901 to 1906. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

1903. A factory letter would confirm exactly.

Actually, it's more likely to be late 1901. Murray's isn't that good on pre-WWI dates. Use savage99.com and the American Rifleman dates for guns in the first 15 years.
