Good. bad, or indifferent?
Found a good deal on new 20 round Colt (Made in Hartford, USA)... If they are good, reliable magazines.
I've not used them before.
Thanks for the input!

New made, or new-old stock?
They work, but the reliability depends on if they have the newer green followers, or they still have the original ones.
Most on mine were fine, one would be a problem once in a while, if it was a problem more than once, it got discarded.
Reality around here, they are more of a collector's item, if true Colt originals.

The last Colt 20 round mags I bought had black plastic followers that I replaced with the old alloy followers. Never had a problem with those.
The last I knew, the green followers were only for 30's except you could put one in a 9 round mag and limit it to 5 rounds.
Did they come out with something new?
Regardless they are made by NHTMG?

Can't comment on the new ones but i still have 4 old Colt 20 round mags that saw lotsa hard, hard use in the 80's and i would not not hesitate to use them today...in fact one is in the buttstock pouch on my M4 as we speak.

Let me know if you don't buy them, I will. These look pretty good. I had some older Colt mags years ago with the green followers. Seems they were pretty good. These have the black followers, but are stamped made in 2013, so I suppose they are the latest design? My older green follower mags were lots older than 2013. Jimmy, stock up man! They were on sale at $6.99 each. I got 15 of them. You may have to backorder. http://www.brownells.com/magazines/...0rd-magazine-5-56mm-nato-prod104995.aspx

Barry Ignore the green follower thing, that's for 30 rounders. The 20 round magazines have never had any issues. If you want 20 rounders, those are the ones to get.

I've heard that when Armalite came out with the M-16 military rifle, they intended the magazines to to be used and discarded. Not sure how true that is, but if you could mass produce enough magazines cheap enough, it would make sense to do that in a battlefield situation.

I should have kept a few bags for myself... well colt and universal IIRC.. mil surp was cheap... That's why I was needing 15 round magazines. Seems like everyone that shows up to shoot here at the ranch has new AR15 with 30 round mags. They always leave with a couple of my 20 rounders. For the life up me, I don't know why the 30's are so popular. To me they are too long to maneuver for accurate shooting off a rest. Most of my friends and family leave here with hunting ammo too... Dammit. The last one was my brother. (he knows nothing about rifles, ammo, accuracy, scopes, etc.) Every time he needs something, rifle, scope, ammo, whatever, he comes callin'.. He bought a Springfield AR15 not long ago, and told the guy at the gunshop he needed ammo that would be good for hog hunting. That idiot at the gun counter sold him a 420 round can of military green tip armor piercing ammo. My brother left here with a nice variable scope sighted in to soft point ammo that I provided as well, and a nice one piece scope mount and 2 20 round mags. That guy at the gun shop needs to hear from his boss about that!

Green followers in a 20 round mag? Yes - but I rechecked it, it's an AR-Stoner, NOT a Colt magazine. Came NIP with a Colt HBAR I bought, I ass-u-med it was a Colt mag, everything else with the accessories was Colt marked.

Sounds like someone switched out a magazine, happens a lot.
Anyway, the USGI or Colt 20 round mags were some of the best ever made, I have several and used to buy them for $4 and $5 even during the ban years at pawn shops and gun shows. A few years ago I bought a dozen new Colt mags for $10 a piece, switched followers and put them up. I mostly use 20 round Pmags now but the Colt mags will always be my favorite.

Brownells offers the same 20 round mag, just not at the sale price that the Colt's (which they don't have now) were at.
I have quite a few & they work just fine. They come with a yellow or black follower; I've changed some of them to green magpuls, just because, but the yellow or blacks have never failed.

I find 20 rounders to be very handy to have on hand. I don’t shoot from a bench often, but when I do, the 20 rounders are the way to go.
