I've opened up Mauser actions for new chambers, but never touched 700 rails. Am considering a re-bore and re-chamber on a 700 '06 to a 9.3x62. Should I forget this, or will it feed OK without opening rails? Also I think the base is slightly larger on the 9.3, will the 700 06 bolt face work OK on the 9.3? Thanks
I believe the actions with claw extractor bolt faces are much easier to do, but I have several 700 06's.

My 9.3X62 Norma brass measures .472 at the base. I used to have a 700 in 9.3X62 and it worked great. My only 9.3X62 that I have now is a Mauser. ![[Linked Image]](http://i49.tinypic.com/2rfyr6h.jpg)

I doubt you'd have to touch the rails to go from '06 to 9.3 x 62.
On 700's I've gone from 270, 30-06 and even 7 Mag to 35 Whelen and 280AI without touching the rails.
700 long actions are very forgiving as far as feeding.
Load the mag with 9.3's and see how they work. Obviously they won't go into the chamber but they might feed out of the mag far enough to see how it will work.
