Just got a very early Model 29, serial number 5751. Far from original, and I could do without some of the changes, but one of the non-original features is why I wanted it and what makes it interesting! I thought there was a remote possibility these existed, but this is the first one I have ever seen.

The sights are replacement and whoever removed the original front got a little wild with the hammer and the replacement is off center, the rear is a Remington 701 and there was a tang sight on it at one time (the front sight might be off center to line up with a tang sight that didn't set straight). One forearm screw is missing.

There is a poor repair to the toe of the buttplate and sling swivels were added, but they are quite nice with the rear having stops both ways so it cannot contact the stock.

This is a pre-Hi-Speed gun but it has a later Hi-Speed firing pin, possibly factory work done sometime after 1931.

Here's the interesting part and the reason I think the gun had some factory work done after 1931, the year Hi-Speed 22 ammunition was introduced.

This one fit's in with these -

I still need a Model 1909, Model 25 and a Stevens Visible Loader stamped like these.

Nice little 29. A pump 29 has been on my want list for some time now. You don't see them turn up out here too often.
