I'm thinking about buying a Timney single stage 3# trigger to replace the mil-spec trigger that came in my D.D. V11. I don't claim to be any kind of gunsmith but it looks as simple as driving out two pins, pulling the original, placing the Timney and driving the two pins back in place. Is the change-out as easy as that?

You may need to add the locking type pins to the Timney. I did, at least. Good trigger.

Its pretty straight forward but that particular trigger wouldn't be my first choice. Depending on your intended use, there are better ones for the same money or less.

3# on an AR seems light.

What I am looking for is a crisp trigger much like I have on my rimfire and centerfire hunting rifles. Most of my triggers are in the 2.5 # range. This D.D. V11 will go to the range occasionally and, hopefully, never be pressed into defensive service. However, should such a situation arise, I want something that always works. I will not be doing any competitions, classes, or other high-volume shooting with this rifle. It will not lead a rough and tumble life. If there are better trigger choices, I'd like to hear suggestions. Cost is not an issue.

Drop-in trigger tests

I have a Rise RA-535 & an Elftmann Match drop-in; both are outstanding. The Rise is 4.5# & non-adjustable, dead crisp; the Elftmann is adjustable from 2.5 -4.5 lb & has a half cock safety notch & IMO, is the best trigger available. I would take either over a Timney hands down..........friend has one that I've tried. Not a bad trigger, but the Rise & Elf have a better feel to me.

I got the Rise free; I bought the Elftmann & would buy another one simply because it's adjustable; the 4.5# on the Rise is a little heavier than it needs to be for most purposes, but as I said, it's dead crisp & breaks at the same weight every time you pull it but I wish it were adjustable.

If you want a two-stage, buy a Geiselle SSA-E or the non-certified G2S for a lot less $$, & put a lighter trigger spring on it; both will be 3.5 pounds total pull with the 2nd stage being around 2-2.25 lb. I have both as well as the SSA; all are very, very good triggers that really have no faults.

RS a V11 chrome lined barrel and a 2.5 pound trigger is a bit of a paradox. I have a v11 and while it's a great gun you might be better served with a Ssa-e on that gun. Replace the barrel with a nice accurate SS the maybe then a 2.5 pound trigger. Just my thinking for what it's worth.

I agree with MM and Jimmyp and would look at the 2 stage geiselle SSA-E trigger. They are damn nice and go on sale on occasion. The one I bought recently was only $189.00 shipped. For slightly less money, I'd also look at the RRA 2 stage national match and the varmint match trigger. These can be had for less than $100.00 on a good sale. This is coming from a guy that loves his single stage triggers on his hunting rifles to break clean at 2.5 pounds. I'd bet money the OP would like the Geiselle SSA-E if given a chance..

I'd also bet at least an equal amount that he'd like an Elf equally well or better too.
