Collectors Firearms in Houston has this SS Limited Ed. .257 Roberts.

Their prices aren't the best, but they do trade.

D F -

I once ' drooooled' over that rifle in 7 RM till I handled one. I actually went intending to trade a BDL for the SS Laminate. It was WAY heavier than I'm willing to lug around. The shorter rounds w/22" blls may not be that heavy

I'm not trying to influence you one way or the other

The laminate stocks are generally pigs, heavier than the walnut on the 257.

The 700 CDL-SFs in 257 Roberts were cataloged in 2009 and have short actions with 24" barrels and walnut stocks. I have one that I installed in a McM McM Hunter style stock and it is probably my first or second favorite 257 Roberts.

The only long action 700s that Remington made in 257 Roberts that I know of were the the cataloged 700 Classic from 1982 and the non-cataloged 700 SS Classics in 1999(?).

Didn't think it would last long.

My personal .257R is on a LA. https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/10163944/4

I knew that many Fire contributors like the Roberts, saw this one and posted it.

I don't think it would be overly heavy. Light colored walnut, IME, is generally lighter weight than dark, more figured walnut. I hollowed out the butt stock on an older ADL stock, took the it down to 26 oz, about the weight of a Hunter's Edge. But, I removed the cheek piece and a lot of wood.

Even today I love that laminated SS rifle. The ONLY reason I didn't get that 7 mag was its weight.
That happened before 2000 or thereabouts.

Well, yes, the Lammie stocks do weigh more. On the other hand I certainly have nothing to complain about with my Remmie M7MS in 257 Roberts.

The 7MS stock is the only factory original equipment stock that gives a 20" barreled Model Seven anything near neutral balance, as all of the other 18.5" and 20" barreled Model Sevens are decidedly off-balance butt-heavy.

My 7MS' are stainless parts guns in 223 and 260.

That was a beautiful rifle. I don't think the price was bad at all. Why did you have to introduce me to that site?
