Mathman, I am not terribly concerned about temperature sensitivity of H380 in my 7mm/08 load. Have killed stuff in warm and very cold temps at ranges to 300 yds. Seems to be OK. I guess I don't know what we did and how we got along before the new temperature insensitive powder came along. I will keep using what works good in my guns, but thanks for looking out for me.

CFE-223 and 2000-MR are two good options to BG that will put you in the same ball park velocity wise. I'm really liking 2000-MR right now in a T-3X 7-08 and a Rem-700 7-08AI with both 120 gr NBT and 139 gr Hornady. I've had really good luck with Varget in the 7-08AI and 120 gr TTSX. It is Barnes recommended powder for that particular bullet.

Look forward to reports on CFE-223 and 2000-MR in the 7mm-08. Have read those two are the same.

I tried CFE- 223 and didn't get the velocity. Accuracy, either, but to be fair I gave up easy when the speed was a no-show.

Pharm,

With the results you're getting with BG, ti would be tough to beat. I personally have had mixed results with BG, as I have with CFE-223. 2000-MR seems to be more consistent with both the 7-08 and the AI, so I'm pretty sure they aren't the exact same powder. Could be the lots though, I guess. 140 gr Accubonds at 2960 fps in the AI, and 120 gr NBTs at 3170 fps in the std 7-08, both consistently sub-MOA are what 2000-MR is producing. Good stuff.

RL-17 is very good and RL-16 is showing tons of promise. Just need to stretch it out a bit further.

GregW, I'd be interested in your RL-16 loads you're working on. I bought some by haven't been able to play with it yet.

I'd like to see more 4451 7mm-08 data.

It's one of the new Enduron family of powders, should be pretty good.

Early comparisons show Endruons to be about as temp stable as Extremes.

Did you try hot primers?

I've read that those type powders often do better with mag primers or at least hot std. primers, like Winchester..

Just a thought.

Big Game seems to work better hot, near the limit.

For me, it's one of the best, Varget pretty close.

I can definitely get higher velocities with BG, but accuracy for me has.been much better with Varget.

I have more work to do, will report.

It's gotta stop raining, dry up before I can get to my range. No fun slopping around in the mud.

I got good accuracy with 42 gr under a 140 Partition, crap velocity.

I got good accuracy with 42.2 gr under 150 ELDX, good velocity.

As always, work up.

45 grains of Varget and 120 gr Ballistic Tips has been a go to load for the past 7 years. VERY accurate and VERY deadly on deer.

That load seems to be a classic.

I'm currently researching 7mm-08 loads. That combo comes up more often than any, is way ahead of whatever is number two.

JGRaider swears by it, so it's gotta be pretty good.
