After reading all you Glock Fans touting the Quality of the Glock, I just read on my Facebook page of a friend who just received his new Glock . Minus the ejector! Maybe I'm not as stupid as I seem to be when I buy a Taurus or a S&W SD. At least all the parts are in them. No issues with them, and I just got a new M&P Shield that so far has fired one magazine without a hitch. I'll know more about this thing when I get more S&W40's. I guess the moral of the story, is out of the millions of handguns sold each year there is bound to be a lemon here and there. My only problem is two of the last three I have bought had to be shipped back. Bad average.

I hear you. Quality control is not what it should be for lots of companies. QC inspectors are expensive and don't produce anything. Some companies think it is cheaper/better for them to quickly get goods out to meet demand and fix stuff later that wasn't up to snuff. What they should be more concerned with is the damage to their reputation. If they get too many returns, it will cost them, but they are very aware of their return rate.

Stuff happens.

What should happen is the OEM happily fixes it or works with you to rectify the thing. Bonus would be their tripping over themselves while profusely apologizing and offering you company swag.

If that doesn't happen, then there's a problem.

I have had a brand stinkin' new Glock with an "overly bent" slide lock spring so that the gun would kinda disassemble itself randomly. I can see how it would've passed QC checks because it was random. That's the stinker with QC and repairs in general - the things that are only kinda broken or are only broken sometimes, intermittent failures.

Luckily, the fix was just my bending that leaf spring back the other way.

I've had to return a Glock to the factory right after buying it new. The good news is that Glocks are so simple, they can almost always be made right by an armorer quickly figuring out which part needs replacing, and then just replacing it.

So tell us how they shipped a Glock to him? Does he have an FFL? Did he "receive" it from the gun store and not notice the hole where it was supposed to be?

Rondrews: I have had a LOT to do with Glocks for a LOT of years including 1,120 of my co-workers using them!
Additionally I have purchased several Glocks for my own and my professional useages - in all of those years I have never heard of a comparable incident to which you allude to!
Facebook anonymous innuendo is NOT going to replace my firsthand experience with Glocks.
Glocks ARE first-rate firearms - dependability, readiness and reliable accuracy are built into them.
Re-assess your insinuation.

I thought the same thing, but I re-read the post and realized he says the ejector, not the extractor. That could go unnoticed a lot easier than a missing extractor I suppose.

I know a lot of people that carry and use Glock's a lot and never heard a complaint other then they are boringly reliable and accurate. That said for some reason I plan on buying 1911's for a while. I don't know what it is about them.

I do. They were designed when firearms were the products of human craftsmanship, and it comes across in the way they look, feel, and shoot. That, and their history runs deep in American veins. There is definitely a great deal appealing about them.

It's the same for a pre-64 Winchester 70 or 94, or an old Winchester 92 in .44-40, or a nice old S&W double action revolver, or a Colt SAA, or well-made replicas of any of the above. And the list goes on.

I've seen Smith & Wesson revolvers come from the factory with glaring defects such as; no rear sight milled, unrifled barrel, no cylinder notch bevel, etc.

My mouse is made of plastic.

That is all the plastic I need in my hand.

Negative!

The CA compliant version would have the ejector but would be absent the firing pin grin
